When he was young, Chen Weiren was killed by drunk driving. He was jailed for 18 years and lived in less than a ping of space every day. When he got out of prison, he decided to raise chickens in different ways.

After he was released on parole three years ago, Chen Weiren raised nearly 4,000 chickens in Gaoshu, Pingtung, including guinea fowl, black feathered native chicken and Taiwan livestock 13 native chicken. These chickens run and jump on 1.2 hectares of pasture every day, eating fruit, bean dregs, sweet potato leaves and lees without antibiotics or growth hormone.

If you want to raise chickens, you must take a natural and non-toxic road.

Chen Wei-Jen, 55, said that when he was a child, he grew up in the countryside, and many relatives and neighbors were raising chickens. At that time, they kept them in captivity next to their homes without using antibiotics or growth hormone. On average, they did not lay eggs until 140 or 50 days.

"I remember that when I was a child, my sister kept the chicken for at least half a year, and the chicken was fragrant. But when I planned to raise chickens three years ago, I went to the vegetable market to buy chicken. I found that it smelled very bad. Then I went to visit other people's duck farms. Not only did I raise chickens intensively, but I also grew up in a green pool with high quality. " Chen Weiren therefore decided that since he wanted to raise chickens, he had to take a natural and non-toxic road.

On a 1.2-hectare ranch, nearly 4,000 chickens raised by Chen Weiren seem to be "doing exercises" every day, running and jumping a lot, and having to endure the wind and rain. There is a ditch in the pasture, and from time to time you can see the flock of chickens leaping to the other shore.

In terms of food, Chen Weiren prepares fruit, sweet potato peel, bean dregs and lees for chickens to eat. The feed ingredients sold on the market can supplement amino acids and make the feathers of chickens beautiful, but Chen Wei-Jen's chickens do not eat these growth feeds and look ugly in appearance. "the whole body of my chickens has no three or two oils, and they are all thin," he said with a smile. "it's more like a fairy wind."
