Return to the "Top" Peak and restart the Roof Garden of ─ normal University Environmental Education Center

In 2014, students at the Institute of Environmental Education at Taiwan normal University made spontaneous efforts and research to rebuild a new farm on the roof, which has not been seen since 2011. Starting on a small scale and learning while experimenting, they plan to rebuild the rooftop farm and once again become a sustainable life center for schools and communities.

The rooftop farm of the Institute of Environmental Education of Taiwan normal University, subsidized by the Ministry of Education's sustainable campus plan in 2004, covered the roof space with soil, planted melons, fruits and vegetables, and set up solar shower space and cooking equipment, making it a concrete place to practice sustainable life. Students use solar pots to cook their own crops, from planting to eating, to experience what a sustainable life is.

It has become the center of life and education in the Environmental Education Institute, affecting the campus of the normal University, nearby communities, and even listed as a recommended place for sustainable living practice by the United Nations Educational and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

However, in 2011, due to the aging structure of the building, experts assessed that the weight of the roof farm would have an impact on safety, and decided to demolish it after several discussions. In 2014, under the enthusiasm and efforts of the students of the Environmental Education Institute, the plan to revive the rooftop garden of National normal University and practice sustainable life is quietly sprouting.
