Did you know that the sulforaphane rich in blue and white coconut seedlings, in addition to high levels of antioxidants, may also help prevent and delay the emergence of degenerative arthritis? Degenerative arthritis has always been a headache for many elders. Hands, feet, spine, hip and knee are the most frequently affected areas, with early manifestations of joint pain and stiffness. Once symptoms are found, it becomes very important to delay the progression of the disease and the timing of the operation.

According to an article published in the American Journal of Arthritis and Rheumatology (Arthritis and Rheumatism), preliminary experiments in mice and humans have found that sulforaphane can block the enzymes that cause joint damage, which in turn slows the destruction of articular cartilage.

Scholar: it is useless to eat glucosamine for joint pain

In recent years, it is very popular to take dietary supplements containing glucosamine (glucosamine) or chondroitin (chondroitin), such as Weiguli, to reduce the pain caused by degenerative arthritis of the hip and knee. However, a study by Swiss scientists pointed out that glucosamine and chondroitin have no clinical effect, can not relieve arthritis pain, and may just be a placebo for "peace of mind".

Over the past decade, it has become increasingly common for doctors and rheumatologists to prescribe glucosamine and chondroitin, and many people with painful arthritis buy them to take them, the Swiss team found. Global sales of glucosamine supplements reached US $2 billion in 2008, an increase of 60% over 2003. But the researchers examined 3803 patients with arthritis and found that glucosamine and chondroitin had "no clinical effect" on joint pain, neither reducing pain nor reducing joint space.

Peter Juni, a professor at the University of Bourne in Switzerland, pointed out more directly in a report published in the British Medical Journal (British Medical Journal): "Health authorities and health insurers should not pay for these supplements and avoid prescribing this prescription for patients who have not yet received treatment."

Editor's note: at present, the Central Health Insurance Bureau of the Department of Health of the Executive Yuan has the conditions to give 42 kinds of drugs containing glucosamine sulfate (Glucosamine Sulfate), including Viguli, for patients over the age of 60 with knee arthritis, or with knee arthritis symptoms for more than 6 months. Chondroitin, which is often taken with glucosamine, is recognized by the National Health Insurance Bureau and the FDA of the United States as food, not medicine, and has no curative effect.

Research from the University of East Anglia in the UK has also found that the "sulforaphane" rich in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli has a clear benefit in protecting joints and bones, and eating more broccoli may be more helpful for arthritis than glucosamine.

Among the many fruits and vegetables, the sulforaphane content of blue and white coconut is one of the highest, and the content of blue and white coconut seedlings is 20-50 times that of mature vegetables, and the effect of eating both is better. Friends who want to prevent degenerative arthritis, start gorging on blue and white coconut and blue and white coconut seedlings now! Instead of spending a lot of money on healthy food, it is better to start from your own table and try your best to eat natural and nutritious food. I believe your body will respond to your efforts with health!
