Shuttling through the gradually red peach orchard, Zhou Meihua cautiously reminded fruit-picking tourists that the peach was so fragile that a shake of 100 yuan might fly, but unreasonable monkeys were more troublesome than man-made vandality. half of the annual harvest goes into their stomachs, but this year her eyebrows have eased a little bit, and the secret weapon is a white dress in the orchard-Taitung improvement market developed to prevent monkeys. "none of the peaches covered with monkey nets this year have been eaten!"

If you dress a fruit tree, you will earn ten thousand yuan more.

In recent years, Taroko National Park has actively guided the conversion of domestic agriculture into organic, but the monkey prevention net is not affordable to everyone. Where does the subsidy come from?. Who is responsible for prevention and control?

However, there are double guarantees in government laws and regulations. The Wildlife Conservation Law, which is in charge of the Forestry Bureau, stipulates that even conservation animals, as long as they endanger crops, can be hunted or slaughtered in a humane manner in case of emergency. however, the National Parks Law, which is in charge of the Construction Administration, stipulates that animals shall not be hunted in the territory. Both are special laws, but priority has not been set for a long time.

Lin Guozhang, chief of the Wildlife Conservation Section of the Forestry Bureau, said that it was reported that Taiwan macaques endanger crops. The Forestry Bureau had previously issued subsidies for monkey prevention through the local government, and had written to the Construction Department, hoping that the National Park Management Group would clarify the applicable law as soon as possible, but it has not received a response. If the Construction Department thinks that the National Park Law is applicable, it should be responsible for the prevention and control of monkey pests. If the final decision is the Wildlife Protection Law, the Forestry Bureau will also send staff to assist, but the Construction Department must give a clear answer.

Liu Peidong, head of the National Parks Section of the Construction Department, said that at present, there is indeed a problem of concurrence with the "Wild Conservation Law." in the early days, national parks focused on conservation and did not take into account the needs of residents in mountainous areas. recently, the laws and regulations were reviewed again because of monkey damage, but they are still under discussion. there may be a conclusion next week, and we cannot give a specific response at present, so we can only ask farmers to use eviction methods as far as possible.
