Planting method of Cornus officinalis
Cornus officinalis is one of the commonly used medicinal materials in China. It has a long history of application. It is often used for liver and kidney deficiency, dizziness, excessive sweating and other diseases. As demand for it increased, many people began to grow it, so how should it be grown? Let's take a look.
1. Land selection and preparation
It is advisable to choose leeward sunny, sufficient light, deep flat land or slow planting, planting land suitable for fertile loose, good drainage neutral and slightly acidic sandy loam, preferably close to water source, disease irrigation. After the planting land is selected, it is deeply ploughed by 30- 40cm before winter, and about 3000kg farm manure or cake fertilizer is applied per mu as base fertilizer half a month before sowing. Make a bed 1.2 meters wide, 25cm high and 25cm wide and wait for sowing.
2. Reproductive methods
Dogwood propagation methods are numerous, there are sowing, layering, cuttage and grafting, but in production a handful are used to sow propagation methods. Harvest the fruit when it is ripe, dry it for 3-4 days, remove the pulp, then dissolve the seed in water with bleaching powder to make its oily shell rot, remember to stir when soaking, take out the seed and dress it with plant ash to sow. Sowing adopts the method of sowing, and shallow furrows of 5 cm deep are opened on the ridge surface according to the row spacing of 25cm, seeds are evenly scattered, and a layer of soil and miscellaneous fertilizer is covered, and generally 40-60 kg of seeds are used per mu. After sowing, pay attention to keeping the soil moist, about forty or fifty days can emerge.
3. Seedling management
After emergence, keep the soil moist. When the seedlings grow to 3-4 true leaves, they should be thinned and weeded in time, and topdressing twice according to the growth status of the plants, and 4-5 kg urea should be applied per mu. When the seedlings grow to 10-20cm, in case of drought and strong light climate, it is best to take shade and drought prevention measures, irrigate frozen water before winter, and combine soil cultivation and fertilization to make it safe for winter. When the seedlings grow to 70-80cm in one year, they can be planted in the spring of the next year.
4. Planting
In order to ensure its normal growth, 30-50 trees are generally planted per mu. If there are other trees or shrubs, only about 20 trees can be planted. The planting density is determined according to the actual situation of the planting site. The best time to plant is December to January, because this is the dormant period of dogwood, when planting can improve the survival rate. Choose a cloudy day to sprout, take soil to sprout, prune its roots and dip them in mud, preferably with planting, apply 20 kg of manure to each hole before planting, and apply it after mixing with fine soil. Put the plants in the right position, fill half of the soil, lift the seedlings, make the roots closely connected with the soil, and then step on the watering, in order to survive.
