How to grow western vegetables
Watercress, also known as watercress, is an aquatic herb, but it also has dry land planting technology. It is mainly planted in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and Fujian in China. Watercress has a relatively comprehensive content of nutrients, with the effects of menstruation, contraception, diuresis and cough, so it is a kind of vegetable with great health care value. So how to grow watercress now? Let's find out today.
1. Planting selection
Generally, watercress should be planted in paddy fields or dry land with convenient irrigation conditions. Secondly, the soil fertility of the planting land should be sufficient, fertilizer conservation and water retention should be strong, so the general soil quality is clay loam or loam, sandy land can not be selected. There should be proper shade near the planting site, which can reduce the work and cost of building a shade. The paddy field should be ploughed, the dry land should be ploughed deeply, and enough basic fertilizer should be applied to make the border and wait for sowing.
2. Scientific sowing
Watercress can be grown all the year round, but the best time to plant it is in August and September every year. Watercress is generally planted by cutting, so the seedlings of watercress are generally purchased from the market, which can be used for cutting propagation. The spacing between rows planted in paddy fields is generally about 15 to 20 centimeters, and the spacing between plants is about 10 centimeters. On the other hand, the spacing between rows and plants in dry land is about 15 cm and 12 cm respectively. The seedlings will be cut into the whole land, each hole in the moon for three or four seedlings, and shallow insertion of about two centimeters into the soil.
3. Field management
Watercress has higher requirements for water and fertilizer, so there are some differences in the management of paddy field planting and dry land planting. If it is paddy field planting, then after planting, we need to put shallow water in the field, usually about two centimeters deep, and then as the plant grows, slowly increase the water level, generally the water level in the field will not exceed five centimeters. Dryland planting requires watering after planting, and then watering every three or four days to maintain soil moisture. We also need reasonable fertilization, mainly quick-acting fertilizer, spraying foliar fertilizer and rotten organic fertilizer.
4. Harvest and retain species
We have to harvest watercress in batches. After general planting, when watercress grows to about 30 centimeters high, the first harvest can be carried out. After harvest, we need to carry out a fertilization, mainly urea. There are generally two kinds of watercress, namely asexual reproduction and seed-bearing reproduction. The asexual reproduction leaves the seed, while the mailbox reproduction uses the seed. Generally, the fruit will mature in May, so you can keep the seed.
