Blackcurrant scientific name blackcurrant, also known as blackcurrant, black bean fruit, purple plum, it is a small shrub, the fruit is really ripe black berries, edible, but also can process fruit juices, jam. High nutritional value, rich in vitamin C, anthocyanins and a variety of trace elements beneficial to the human body, but also can prevent gout, anemia, edema, arthritis, rheumatism and other symptoms. So do you know how to grow it? Let's take a look.

1. Land selection and preparation

Blackcurrant can grow in a fixed place for more than 20 years, so it is necessary to choose a good planting place according to its growth characteristics, so that it can grow and develop well in order to harvest berries continuously. Areas with sufficient sunshine, flat terrain, deep soil layer, close to water sources and convenient drainage and irrigation should be selected. if it is a mountain area, you can choose areas with a certain slope, which can avoid sealing and the slope should not exceed 10 degrees. After cleaning up the weeds and residual plants in the planting land, combined with ploughing, apply base fertilizer, and plant them in Harrow fine leveling and other places.

2. Methods of reproduction

When planting blackcurrant, cuttings and striping can be used to propagate. After autumn, the strong branches of the mother plant are cut into 20-25cm cuttings and stored in a cool place. When the temperature rises in spring, the cuttings can be trimmed to a length of 10-15cm for cutting. generally, they can take root after about half a month, and seedlings can be planted in autumn as long as they are properly managed. When striping propagation, the branches issued last year are cut or peeled and pressed around the plant in spring, and then buried around the 5cm. After the root system grows, the soil is cultivated to expand the rooting range, and it can be separated and planted from the mother plant in autumn.

3. Colonization

The planting time can be chosen in autumn or spring, from October to freezing in autumn, and about April in spring. The planting density should be reasonably controlled according to the characteristics of varieties and planting methods. Generally speaking, if the plant is larger and needs to be buried in cold, the row spacing should be 2 × 1.5 m, while the plant is smaller, and the row spacing of varieties that do not need to be buried in cold should be 2 × 1.25 m. The depth of planting is generally 6-8cm, which should be adjusted according to the height of the topography. When planting, the seedlings should be cut first, leaving about 8-12cm at the base of the stem, and there should be 3-4 buds to facilitate the formation of lateral buds. Then apply the base fertilizer in the planting hole, backfill half of it, straighten and plant the cut seedlings, lift the seedlings several times when covering the soil, make its roots closely connected with the soil, and then cover the soil and water thoroughly.

4. Field management

After planting, the management of root system in the field is related to the yield, so it is particularly important, mainly from the aspects of fertilizer, soil and water. It is best to use mature farm manure with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer to achieve the physiological balance between elements. Water is indispensable for crop growth, in order to meet the needs of blackcurrant growth, to meet its water requirements, to keep the soil moist at all times, and to drain water in time during the rainy season. In addition, in addition to water and fertilizer management, it is necessary to keep the soil loose in the orchard to meet the requirements of the plant for the soil, regularly ploughing and weeding once, promoting the root growth of the plant, and accelerating the normal growth and fruiting of the aboveground plant.
