Radix Paeoniae Rubra is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine, which has a long history of application. It has the effect of clearing heat and cooling blood and dispelling blood stasis. It is deeply liked by doctors in medicine. Wild Radix Paeoniae Rubra grows in mountains and grasslands at an altitude of 500-1500 meters in the north. It has the characteristics of light, drought and cold tolerance. Let's take a look at its planting techniques.

1. Land selection and preparation

Radix Paeoniae Rubra is not strict on soil, loam and sandy loam are the most suitable, sandy soil is the second, clay is poor, it is not recommended to plant. After selecting the plot, ploughing it after the autumn harvest, using the sun to expose it to remove diseases and insect pests, after the beginning of spring, apply basic fertilizer, in raking fine leveling, in making the border, the size of the border, depending on the topography, the topography is higher, can do high border, the terrain is flat, can do low border.

2. Sowing seeds

After the autumn harvest every year, the seed root can be harvested. The seed root must have bud, complete and strong persistent root. Before planting, dig holes in the border surface and control the row spacing of 40 × 50cm. If you plant the seed into the hole, you must plant one plant per hole, generally about 3000 plants per mu. Corn, soybeans and other crops can be planted on the border two years after planting, but no other crops can be planted in the third year. Red peony is avoided for continuous cropping, and it is best to plant other crops in the land after planting.

3. Field management

Weeding and fertilization should be done well after planting. Fertilizer generally chooses barnyard manure and bean cake, which can be applied at the bottom of the hole to provide nutrients for root emergence. When the first topdressing comes out in early spring, dig holes in the tip of the plant, then cover the soil, and then apply it once or twice a year in spring and autumn, and pay attention to weeds at the same time to avoid grabbing nutrients with the plant. When Radix Paeoniae Rubra sets buds and blossoms every year, in order to ensure sufficient nutrients in its roots, the buds should be removed to reduce nutrient consumption.

4. Diseases and insect pests

The main diseases of Radix Paeoniae Rubra are Botrytis cinerea and rust. The pathogen of Botrytis cinerea will damage the leaves, stems, flowers and other parts of the plant, which usually occurs at the flowering stage, and the disease is the most serious in the overcast and rainy season. Once the disease is found, the damaged branches and leaves should be removed in time, burned or buried deeply, and the Bordeaux solution should be sprayed for prevention and control. Rust mainly harms leaves, and the disease is usually serious from July to August. The residual branches and leaves in the field will be burned during harvest to reduce the source of bacteria, and the sodium solution of enemy rust will be sprayed to prevent and control. Insect pests are mainly grubs, ground tigers, mole crickets and so on, they mainly harm the roots, can be made of zinc, parathion and soil mixed into poisonous soil, combined with soil preparation into the soil poison, but should pay attention to the allocation of dose, so as not to affect the plant.
