In order to prevent avian influenza, on the first day of the poultry slaughter ban today, under the condition that only white chickens can enter and exit the slaughterhouse, private slaughter inspections have also been carried out simultaneously. So far, one private chicken slaughter farm has been discovered in Kaohsiung. In addition, after the compensation has been raised, there have also been three voluntary notifications today.

However, in response to questions from the outside world about why white broilers and day-zero chicks can be excluded from the slaughter ban, the Council of Agriculture also stressed at a press conference today that the antibody test results of white broilers and adult chickens have been negative for a long time, and there have been no cases since last year, so white broilers will be excluded. The chicks are selected because the probability of avian influenza transmission through eggs is low, and the incubation temperature will also kill the virus, so they choose not to control.

80% compensation for price difference

As for the implementation of the ban on slaughter and embargo policy, Huang Changchang, director of the Bureau of Prevention and Inspection, stressed that the supervision mechanism of slaughterhouses has been established. In order to prevent the crisis brought by private slaughter, 33 inspections have been launched in counties and cities today. Among them, private slaughter chickens were found in Kaohsiung Daliao, 20 carcasses were destroyed on the spot, and will continue to be inspected in the future. Huang also stressed that as for the cases of active notification, there will be more and more cases in the future. Today, there are three active notifications in Yunlin. As long as farmers actively notify, 80% compensation will be given for culling. It is expected that the compensation time will be until the end of May this year.

Although the Council of Agriculture proposed compensation measures, but today there are still many chicken and freight operators north protest, in this regard, the acting CEO of the Central Livestock Association Wang Xuchang said, after preliminary communication with the operators, now accumulated in the chicken farm 1.8 million chickens, they will help digest; At the same time, the vice chairman of the Council of Agriculture Chen Jizhong also said, chicken breeding will compensate according to the price difference, transportation part will also consider the discounted employee salary to compensate, please do not worry about the operators.

Why does the ban on slaughter leave out white broilers and day-old chicks? Council of Agriculture: Low Risk

After the ban on slaughter and embargo policy was implemented, there were many voices questioning whether the Council of Agriculture had decided to exclude white broilers from the market because of market considerations. In response, Huang Jincheng, vice chairman of the Council of Agriculture, stressed that they definitely gave priority to epidemic prevention. They would let white broilers go on the market because the antibody test results of both breeding chickens and adult chickens monitored for a long time were negative. Moreover, white broilers were raised indoors all the time, so the risk was relatively low.

As for the one-day zero-hatchling part, Golden City explained that the general production process is that chickens lay eggs and then transfer them to hatcheries for incubation. After hatching, the chicks will grow into broilers. The probability of avian influenza spreading through eggs is very low. The eggs will continue to maintain a high temperature of 38 degrees during the incubation period of 28 days in the farm, which means that the virus has almost been killed. Therefore, the chicks are relatively safer. The above two items also explain why the probability of young chicks and white broilers being infected is low, so the Council of Agriculture excludes them.
