1. Land selection and fertilization
Basil is a deep-rooted plant, and its roots can extend 50-100cm below, so when planting selected plots, it is necessary to choose soil with deep soil layer, loose soil and good drainage, so as to facilitate its root growth. If the soil is hard or sticky, its root growth will be hindered, which will affect its yield. When planting, it is necessary to apply sufficient base fertilizer to supply the nutrients needed for its growth, accelerate its growth, rake fine and level after applying base fertilizer, and then make flat or high beds about 130cm according to the terrain, flat terrain for flat beds, and high terrain for high beds.
2. Germination
Because of the short frost-free period, seeds should be germinated in a greenhouse environment when planted in the open air. Generally, in the middle and late April, the seeds are put into gauze, soaked in warm water for 5-10 minutes, dried, covered with wet towels, kept warm and moist, and placed in a greenhouse environment of about 25 degrees for germination. When germination, wash the seeds once a day with clean water, keep them clean, and turn them 2-3 times a day to keep the temperature balanced. When the seeds are introduced into the crack, the temperature of the greenhouse is reduced by 3-5 degrees to make the buds strong and tidy, and the buds can be sown when they grow to a certain extent.
3. Sowing
Sowing time in late April to early May, choose a sunny morning, can be drilled can also be drilled, drill needs to open shallow grooves on the surface of the ridge. Hill seeding requires opening small holes. The drilling is to open shallow ditches according to the row spacing of 30cm, evenly scatter seeds in the ditches, open shallow holes according to the hole spacing of 25cm, scatter 2-3 seeds in each hole, cover a thin layer of soil after sowing, water to keep the soil moist, and generally use 0.2-0.3 kg of seeds per mu.
4. Field management
When the seedlings grow to 6-10cm, it is necessary to timely thin and supplement the seedlings, control the plant spacing of 10cm for drilling, and leave 2-3 plants in each hole for hole sowing. When the seedlings grow to more than 10cm, they can be transplanted. After transplanting, they must tread on the soil. In the seedling stage to intertill weeding 2-3 times, speed up root growth, each time after intertill to apply a thin human and livestock manure water, seedlings afraid of drought, to do a good job of water management.
