Polygonatum odoratum is a perennial herb of Liliaceae, its rhizome can be used medicinally, has the effect of nourishing yin and moistening lung, benefiting stomach and promoting fluid, and can reduce blood sugar, blood lipid and blood pressure. Is one of the commonly used medicinal materials in traditional Chinese medicine, its wild resources are gradually decreasing, so artificial planting is on the rise, but it has certain conditions for the planting environment, let's take a look at the detailed introduction.

1. Growth environment

Wild Polygonatum odoratum generally grows at an altitude of 300-1500 meters, but if it is artificially planted, it must be chosen above 900m above sea level, lest the climate affect its growth. In addition, there is no factory near the planting site, because Polygonatum odoratum is more sensitive to smoke, if there is a large observation nearby, it will affect its growth.

2. Soil

Polygonatum odoratum likes sandy soil, which requires fertile, loose and well drained soil, but the fertility of sandy soil is general. If it is yellow clay, it is easy to harden in drought, and it is more difficult to dig, but its water and fertilizer conservation is strong. In the case of sufficient base fertilizer, it can grow high-quality Polygonatum odoratum, but it is not suitable for planting. The land with long-term use of herbicides can not be planted; the soil is too heavy to be planted; the soil is too loose and the yield without aggregate structure is low; gravel soil is not suitable for planting.

3. Temperature

Polygonatum odoratum also has higher requirements for temperature, it is drought-resistant, but its seeds germinate at a temperature of about 25 degrees to break dormancy and begin to germinate. A temperature of 9-12 degrees is needed for seedling emergence, 18-22 degrees for budding and flowering, and 19-25 degrees for underground rhizomes. When the temperature is below 20 degrees in autumn, the fruit ripens gradually and the aboveground parts grow slowly.

4. Moisture

Water is very important for the growth of Polygonatum odoratum. Generally, when the average monthly precipitation is 200 mm, it is the fastest growing period of its underground rhizome, and when the precipitation is less than 20 mm, it will grow slowly or stop growing. Sulfur water, slag filter water and farm discharge water should not be used in planting and irrigation, they will affect plant growth and cause plant death in serious cases.

The above are the planting conditions of Polygonatum odoratum. I hope I can help you. If you want to know more about planting, please follow us.
