Pruning pomegranate in summer is beneficial to reduce the nutrient loss of pomegranate, increase the number of female flowers (tubular flowers) and improve the yield of pomegranate.

pomegranate

Sparse flowers. In late May to late June can distinguish pomegranate female flowers and male flowers (bell-shaped flowers) in progress. When pruning, try to keep early flowers and fruits, choose the second crop of pomegranate fruit to stay, and fill the empty space properly for the third crop of fruit.

Branch contraction group. After pomegranate fruit setting, the lower back and lateral branch groups of pomegranate plant should be retracted first, and then the dominant branch groups on the upper back of pomegranate plant should be retracted according to the position and growth of pomegranate branch groups. Pomegranates can not be retracted when the tree is too prosperous, otherwise it will leap up. In addition, large branches should not be removed when pruning to reduce large wounds.

Remove the branches. After pomegranate fruit setting, excessive long shoots, over-dense branches, diseased branches, weak drooping shoots, bases, inner buds, etc. should be removed in time to reduce consumption, concentrate nutrients and promote pomegranate fruit.

Angled. That is, the angle of each backbone branch can be opened to 70~90 degrees according to the tree potential, so as to ease the tree potential and balance the vegetative growth and reproductive growth of pomegranate.

Head down happy. When the pomegranate crown reaches a certain height, the head is dropped and happy, so as to solve the contradiction between light and pomegranate growth.
