Split hoof disease of sows is one of the main hoof diseases of pigs, with cracked hooves, local pain and little movement on the ground, with an incidence of about 4-5%. If it is light, it will affect the normal activities of sows during breeding or pregnancy, and in severe cases, sows will be eliminated or die because of progressive weight loss. Therefore, the prevention and control of cracked hoof disease in sows is particularly important. In order to prevent and cure the cleft hoof disease of sows, the following points should be done:

Sow

1. Breeding sow breeds resistant to foot-and-limb disease. Through the selection of limb hoof firmness, improve the limb hoof body structure, make the whole body balanced development, enhance the limb hoof firmness, so as to enhance the ability of resistance to cracked foot disease.

2. Feed balanced feed at full price. Feed sows with full-price balanced feed to ensure the supply of minerals, vitamins, especially biotin and linoleic acid. It is necessary to ensure an adequate supply of calcium and phosphorus and an appropriate proportion to ensure an adequate supply of zinc, copper, selenium and manganese. Adding 2-3 mg/kg biotin to the feed can prevent and treat the disease.

3. Improve the environment of the enclosure. The structure of the ring surface should be reasonable, maintain proper smoothness and inclination, and there is no sharp object or stagnant water on the ground. The backup sow pen can be spread with straw, sawdust, plant ash, dry loess, etc., to reduce friction and skid. The enclosure should be clean and dry, after using strong acid, strong alkali and strong oxidizing disinfectant, clean it, and transfer it to breeding pig after drying. Improve the cooling and heat preservation facilities of the enclosure to prevent damage to pig hooves.

4. To prevent secondary infection. A foot bath is set up at the entrance and exit of the sow sports ground, 0.1% UV 0.2% formalin solution is put into the pool, and the disinfectant is changed regularly to prevent and treat the secondary infection of cracked hoof disease. Always check the dryness of sows' hooves and decide whether to apply Vaseline or vegetable oil to protect the hoof shell and prevent dryness.

5. Treatment. After disinfection, the sows with cracked hoof disease can be smeared with zinc oxide ointment; if there is secondary infection, the limbs and hooves are swollen, penicillin and fish stone fat can be used for symptomatic treatment.
