Rabbit acariasis, also known as rabbit scabies, is a common and frequent parasitic disease in rabbits. The pathogens are scabies mite and itch mite. It takes only 7-15 days for mites to develop from eggs to insects, and the life span of adults is about 4-6 weeks. It is distributed throughout the year and occurs frequently in autumn, winter and early spring. Scabies is characterized by severe itching, weight loss, skin scabs and depilation in rabbits.

1. Epidemic characteristics: scabies mites can also be infected through direct contact between diseased rabbits and healthy rabbits, indirect contact with rabbit cages and utensils. Scabies mite disease is highly invasive, a small number of rabbits after the disease, if not timely prevention and treatment, will quickly infect rabbits.

2. Symptoms: mites are parasitic in the dermis of the less hairy parts of the skin, such as the head, ears, feet, mouth, nose and eyes. The rabbit itches unbearably, until the itching is rubbed on the sharp edge of the rabbit cage, and the toes scratch and gnaw, resulting in skin damage and secondary inflammation. Form blisters and ulcers. The ulcer surface exudates fluid mixed with blood, and after drying up, it forms a hard scab, making the affected skin thicker and cracked. With the development of the disease, the hair of the focus fell off and formed a very thick crusting surface. When the scab is serious, the affected rabbit's lips become thicker and stiff, blocking the nostrils, affecting feeding and breathing. The affected rabbit can not be quiet because of itching, gradually lose weight, become weak, and finally die.
