Goldfish hanging orchid, also known as goldfish flower, kangaroo flower, hanging goldfish, etc., is a perennial herb of Gesneriaceae, produced in Costa Rica, Panama and other places, with high ornamental value. It is very suitable for potted plants in greenhouse and indoor gardens with epiphytic method, and can also be used as overhanging plants in the family. Let's take a look at the breeding methods and matters needing attention of goldfish orchids.

Growth habits of goldfish Cymbidium

Goldfish hanging orchid like high temperature, high humidity, negative environment, if placed in the sun for a long time, too dry or too low temperature in winter will cause fallen leaves. The suitable temperature for growth is 18-22 ℃, and low temperature is avoided. If the temperature is lower than 10 ℃ for two consecutive days, the leaves will turn yellow and dry until they will defoliate with a slight vibration. In addition to low temperature, leaves will also fall if the temperature lasts more than 30 ℃. High temperature in summer, goldfish orchid growth is very slow or almost stopped growing, at this time should take appropriate shading measures, in order to make its growth exuberant, not defoliation.

The breeding method of goldfish Cymbidium

Goldfish orchid can be propagated by sowing, ramet and cutting. because the seeds are not easy to obtain, most of them do not use sowing and propagation, and cutting methods are commonly used to propagate. In spring and autumn, about 10 cm (3 to 4 nodes) of branches were cut and inserted into a bed made of river sand or vermiculite to maintain high humidity. It can take root in about a month when the temperature is 20: 25 ℃. After rooting and surviving, strengthen the management, promote the growth of new branches, and promote the branches. After 1-2 months, it can be planted in the pot.

Culture method of goldfish Cymbidium

1. Soil: goldfish orchid potted plants require that the substrate is rich in humus, loose and well drained. Peat soil, perlite and vermiculite are commonly mixed, and the soil leaves are slightly acidic to facilitate growth.

2, temperature: the best growth temperature of goldfish hanging orchid is about 18-22 ℃, and it is not cold-resistant. If the lowest temperature is lower than 10 ℃, it will cause goldfish hanging orchid leaves to turn yellow, dry, and even defoliate, avoid high temperature, and even cause defoliation if the temperature exceeds 30 ℃.

3, lighting: goldfish hanging orchid likes negative environment, can not be exposed in the hot sun, before flowering in winter can appropriately increase sunlight exposure, will increase the quality of flowering. But the sun can not directly shine on the goldfish orchid, otherwise the leaves will wither or even die.

4. Humidity: the growth of goldfish hanging orchid needs sufficient moisture, always keep the basin soil moist in the peak growing season, and water again after drying at a depth of about one centimeter on the surface of the basin soil in winter. But not too much water, otherwise it is easy to rot the root.

5. Fertilization: thin organic fertilizer solution was applied every 1-2 weeks in the peak growing season. Phosphate fertilizer should be added before flowering to increase the quantity and quality of flowering, and nitrogen fertilizer should be applied after flowering. Nitrogen-based topdressing can be applied to those who have begun to grow small plants every half a month.

Matters needing attention of goldfish hanging orchid

1. Goldfish hanging orchid is sensitive to light and can not be directly irradiated, so it can be irradiated properly when the sun is not strong in winter.

2, goldfish hanging orchid long-term lack of water will cause defoliation or make the leaves become brown, affecting beauty, it should be watered in time.

3. Goldfish hanging orchid should spray water to increase the air humidity around the plant when the climate is dry in summer and autumn.

4. Goldfish orchids should not be fertilized during flowering, and should be pruned and reshaped in time after blooming.
