Due to the different nature of stomatitis, the etiology is also different. Eating hard, barbed or bristled feed, or mixed with glass, iron wire and other sharp objects, or due to overheated liquid medicine, frozen feed or mildew feed can lead to stomatitis. It also occurs when goats suffer from diseases such as mouth sores, foot-and-mouth disease, sheep disease, fungal stomatitis, allergy and lamb malnutrition.

Loss of appetite or abstinence of diseased sheep; flushing, swelling, pain and salivation of oral mucosa. In serious cases, bleeding, erosion, ulcers, or physical weight loss can be seen. Secondary stomatitis often has the phenomenon of elevated body temperature. Such as sheep aphtha, oral mucosa, upper and lower lips, mouth corners, water blister and bleeding dry scab-like necrosis; foot-and-mouth disease, in addition to blisters and rotten spots on the oral mucosa, there are also lesions between toes and skin; when sheep pox, in addition to mouth sticky acne rash, in the breast, corner of the eye, head, abdominal skin and other places also have acne.

3. Prevention and cure measures

(1) strengthen management and nursing to prevent primary stomatitis caused by oral injury in goats. Stomatitis caused by infectious diseases should be isolated and disinfected. Mild stomatitis can be rinsed with 2% Murray 3% sodium bicarbonate solution, or 0.1% potassium permanganate solution, or 2% salt water.

(2) when chronic stomatitis, erosion and exudation, rinse with 1% Mel 5% protein silver solution or 2% alum solution; when there is an ulcer, wipe the affected area with 1: 9 iodine glycerin or honey. When the systemic reaction is obvious, intramuscular injection of 40-800000 units of penicillin and 1 million units of streptomycin for 3-5 days; sulfonamides can also be taken.

(3) in the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, Liuhua powder can be used: 50 grams of Cortex Phellodendri, 12 grams of indigo, 6 grams of cinnamon, 2 grams of borneol, each fine powder, and evenly, wipe the sore surface in the mouth. Qinghuang powder can also be used; 100 grams of Qingdai, 30 grams of borneol, 150 grams of Phellodendron Phellodendri, 30 grams of gallnut, each fine powder, and evenly, wipe the sore surface in the mouth.

(4) in order to stop the spread of stomatitis, 2% alkaline water should be used to scrub and disinfect the goat feeding trough. Feed the sick sheep with tender, juicy, soft forage.
