How to plant the seeds of Cymbidium?
Magnolia is a perennial evergreen herb, also known as Lycoris radiata, Lycoris davidiana, etc., with dignified and beautiful shape, green and straight leaves, bright flowers, bright red fruits, and beautiful leaves and fruits. It is known as viewing flowers in one season, fruit in three seasons and foliage in four seasons. Its flowering period is as long as 40 or 50 days, and it can blossom in early spring. Let's take a look at how to plant seeds.
Seed collection
The orchid needs artificial pollination to obtain the fruit, and it is the time for pollination when the bud matures and the stigma secretes mucus 2-3 days after perianth cracking. During pollination, the pollen of stamens is dipped with a new brush and gently falls on the stigma of the pistil. In order to increase the seed setting rate, the seeds can be pollinated once between 9: 10 a.m. and 2: 3 p.m., and the seeds can mature after about 8 to 9 months. When the pericarp gradually changes from green to black-purple, the ear can be cut off and the seeds can be peeled off after 10-20 days.
Sowing substrate
The sowing substrate of Magnolia can use shavings, wood chaff or fine sand, and some rotten leaves, preferably shavings or wood chaff. Then look for a plastic basket, or you can use a breathable tile pan. Take shavings as matrix soil as an example, disinfect them first, then soak the disinfected shavings in water, put them in a basket, put pressure on them, and flatten them out.
Soaking seeds to accelerate germination
Soak the seeds before sowing. Soak the seeds in lukewarm water of 30 ℃ for 20 minutes and then leave them for 1 hour or 2 hours (better if you can soak them in 10% sodium phosphate for 20 minutes and then soak them in clean water for 15 hours).
Sowing method
When sowing the seeds of Cymbidium, one by one, put your eyes down, spaced and arranged in order. After the arrangement, cover the seeds with 2-3cm shavings and gently press them neatly. After the above process is completed, spray the water with water and put the basket in a ventilated place. Breeding should be based on the principle of ventilation and moisture.
Seedling management
1, moisturizing: Cymbidium seedlings should pay attention to moisturizing, usually see shavings moist, do not need to water every day, too much water will make the seeds moisture changeable rot. If it is too dry and then watered, there is no water, and the seeds are too dry to sprout.
2, heat preservation: the seedling temperature of Cymbidium is generally between 15 and 30 degrees, do not put the seeds above 10 degrees, it is best to keep 10 degrees above 32 degrees, in too cold places can turn on the lamp to keep warm.
3. Water quality: the water quality of the seedling watering of Cymbidium should be strictly controlled. It is necessary to trap the tap water for one day and then water it. Do not use the tap water directly, because the tap water has chlorine, which affects the seed germination.
4. Germination: Orchid seeds generally germinate in half a month if they are well cared for, and some are earlier. It is best not to look at them all day after germination, because after germination, the buds will hold the shavings together to facilitate their growth.
5. Raising seedlings: about 45 days after the orchid is sown, the germinated seeds become longer and longer, the roots grow down, and there will be tender green leaflets next to the seeds, which will grow up naturally.
