Water chestnut is a specialty of Taihu Lake, Pearl River Delta, Honghu and other places. Water chestnut is an annual aquatic plant of the genus Rhinopodiaceae, which is generally cultivated in wet mud land with temperate climate, especially in Taihu Lake area of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Pearl River Delta in southern China. In addition, it is also widely cultivated in southern Shaanxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Taiwan and other places.

When will the water chestnut come on the market?

Water chestnut is generally listed from July to September, and the price is about 3-5 yuan per jin. Water chestnut begins to grow tender leaves in April, blossoms in May, grows tender in June, can mature in July, and senescence and shedding in August, so water chestnut in July is the most crisp and delicious. And the fresh water chestnut can't be eaten for long, it lasts about ten days at most, and the water chestnut will gradually grow old.

What kinds of water chestnuts do you have?

1. Wonton Ling: produced in Jiaxing, Zhejiang and other places, late-maturing varieties, sown in Qingming Festival, harvested from the Autumn Equinox to Frosts Descent. High quality and high yield, sweet and waxy, with a yield of 1000 to 1200 jin per mu. The pericarp is green and white, 40 to 50 per jin.

5. Shao Boling: produced in Lixiahe area of Jiangsu Province, early and medium mature seeds, harvested from the End of Heat to Cold Dew, medium yield, green and white skin, large shoulder angle, sharp waist angle, thin skin, 500kg / mu, 40kg / jin.

6. Shajiao Ling: produced in Wujiang and Wuxian County, Jiangsu Province, medium-ripe species, sowed by Qingming Festival and Grain Rain, harvested by the Beginning of Autumn and the End of Heat, with a yield of 400 kilograms per mu, small fruit shape, green, white and thick skin, hard diamond meat, suitable for cooked food.
