Watermelon is a necessary fruit for every family in summer. Watermelon has a sweet flesh and plenty of water, and it is full of flesh in one bite. However, the demand for the growth environment of watermelons is very important. If the growth environment of watermelons does not meet certain standards, then watermelons may grow very small and sweet, so I will introduce to you the growth environment of watermelons.

1. Temperature

Watermelon is a kind of temperature-loving fruit, the temperature below 18 degrees can not survive, the most suitable temperature for germination is about 30 degrees. It can't sprout at 20 degrees or above 38 degrees. The most suitable temperature in the growing period is between 20 and 28 degrees. The seedling is about 23 degrees, the vine extension period is about 26 degrees, and the final maturity period is about 30 degrees. If the temperature does not reach the conditions, the watermelon can not grow, the skin will become very thick, the pulp is hard, sweetness is not enough, affecting the quality and yield.

2. Humidity

Although watermelon is relatively drought-tolerant, it has a great demand for water during its development. Especially in the vine elongation and maturity, it is necessary to ensure the amount of water in watermelon, so as to harvest watermelons with high quality and yield. Watermelon is a very strange fruit. It is easy to get sick when it rains heavily in the rainy season. However, excessive lack of water will affect its development, resulting in dry and hard pulp, small size, affecting yield.

Too much water will affect its pollination. The rapid growth of vines affects the fruit and quality.

3. Lighting

The light demand of watermelon is the most important. from seedling stage to mature stage, watermelon needs at least 620 hours of light to meet a series of light requirements for its flowering and fruiting. It takes at least 6 hours a day for watermelons to develop normally. Especially in the cloudy and rainy weather, there is no sunshine. If the light is not enough, it will lead to insufficient temperature, and if it does not reach the temperature, it will not reach the yield. As I said above, the watermelon cannot grow and the flesh is dry and hard, which seriously affects the yield and quality.

4. Soil

Watermelon is resistant to drought and waterlogging, so the land for planting watermelon should be planted in sandy soil with good drainage system and deeper soil. The soil of watermelon should not be too alkaline and too acidic, and should be cultivated in the land with PH value about 6. If the salt content in the soil is more than 0.2%, the watermelon cannot grow normally. If the soil is acidic, watermelon is prone to Fusarium wilt, so it is necessary to apply some alkaline fertilizer to neutralize in order to achieve a better cultivation effect.

5. Rotation

Do not plant watermelon a second time after planting once, the second time will usually produce diseases, such as Fusarium wilt, the disease is very serious. Crop rotation should be carried out at harvest time, such as rice, etc., and the same piece of land can be planted at least six years apart.

The growing environment of watermelon is very sensitive to the surrounding factors, especially humidity and light. Watermelons should not be too wet or too dry. In the process of cultivation, we must pay close attention to the humidity in the watermelon fields. There is also light, because the photo indirectly affects the temperature, so the editor suggests that we should not plant in the open air, it is better to build a greenhouse, which can not only control humidity but also supplement light.
