▲ 2004

Like the tree shared a few days ago, this tree is also from Puerto Rico, Central America, with an unknown Chinese name, and is a shrub of the family Mirabilaceae unique to Puerto Rico. It is a common bonsai tree species in America.

▲ initial pruning

The first design is three dry styling. After pruning, properly tie the branches to control the direction of the branches.

▲ Summer 2005

The distribution of the three trunks was slightly crowded. In the spring of 2005, the middle trunk was removed and turned into double trunks. After more than a year, the branches and leaves have been so luxuriant, the growth rate is amazing.

▲ end of 2007

The skeleton of the tree is basically formed and is close to taking shape. The maintenance during this period is still based on pruning.

▲ Spring 2012

With the passage of time, the leaves become more luxuriant and plump, and the shape becomes more and more natural.

As you can see in the picture above, the size of the blade is well controlled. The leaves under natural growth conditions are much larger.

The leaves of seedlings cultured by ▲ cuttings were much larger.

▲ cuttings vs. Bonsai branches

In the picture above, there are cuttage branches on the left and bonsai branches on the right. It can be seen that the difference in leaf size is huge.

Comparison between ▲ cuttings leaves and bonsai leaves

The reason why the bonsai leaves become smaller is due to the rich branching structure. When a tree has more branches and more leaves, the size of the leaves will naturally shrink.
