Before growing flowers and vegetables at home, there were basically no mosquitoes in the yard and balcony, but after the balcony was full of flowers, there were many mosquitoes in summer, and I happened to be a very easy person to attract mosquitoes, standing next to flowers and chatting. I'm going to be bitten by mosquitoes.

The mosquitoes would follow me wherever I appeared, day or night, and even if there were a few people next to me, I was bitten all over with bags and itched very much.

I. methods of repelling mosquitoes

The following describes the various mosquito repellent methods I use, and summarizes the more practical ones.

1. Vitamin B1

In fact, I have tried a lot of mosquito repellent methods, which have been used on the Internet, for example, some say that as long as oral vitamin B1 or apply some vitamin B1 solution on the body, mosquitoes can stay away, but the effect is basically useless, or will continue to be bitten.

2. Garlic repels mosquitoes?

Some friends said that garlic can ward off mosquitoes, but garlic is still very expensive. I planted some of it myself, cut it into pieces directly, and then put it near the flowers and plants. I also tried to scratch some garlic juice solution on my arms and ankles, but it still had no effect. Maybe I used the wrong variety of garlic.

3. Vanilla plant repels mosquitoes

On the Internet, it is said that some thyme, rosemary and peppermint stems and leaves can be chopped and mashed with juice to repel mosquitoes. I also picked some vanilla plants, and tried to see different formulations and different proportions, but all of them had no great effect. I still felt that I had to rely on pesticides.

4. Avoid worms

If you want to prevent mosquitoes, the first thing is not to give them an environment to survive and breed. Now, as soon as I see a place with stagnant water, I will remove it immediately, and the small pools in the low-lying areas will be cleared in time after the rain, so that mosquitoes will have no wet place to lay eggs, and they will lose their children and grandchildren.

5. Spray mosquito repellent

This is a simple and rough method, but it is indeed more effective. Spray regularly in places infested by mosquitoes, and once every 10 days, after several cycles, mosquitoes can hardly be seen in the yard, but it is also necessary to clean up the stagnant water in time.

6. Get ready

In addition to mosquito repellent and insecticidal work, you should also prevent it yourself. It is best to wear long-sleeved trousers before gardening.

Second, get rid of slugs

1. Pieces of eggshell

Sprinkle mashed eggshells around the plants and sprinkle them evenly to prevent slugs from invading the plants, but laying out eggshell fragments is a bit laborious and has to be rearranged as soon as it rains.

2. Grasp with your hands

Slugs and snails are haunted at night. I went to catch them with a flashlight at night. Sure enough, I caught a lot of them, and the poor flowers were almost eaten up.

3. Beer trap

Using beer to deal with slugs is the best way I've ever used. Pour some cheap beer directly into a deep glass and put it where the slug is infested. When the slug smells it, the slug will climb onto the glass and finally fall into the beer and drown.

I clean up the body of the slug every 2-3 days, and the effect is outstanding, but I still have to change the wine after the rain.
