Fangfeng alias Tongyun, Huiyun, Huicao, is a commonly used Chinese herbal medicine, mainly for the treatment of colds, headaches, joint pain and other diseases, has a very high economic value, many through the cultivation of it to obtain greater benefits. So how to plant Fangfeng? You know what? Let's take a look at it with the editor.

1. Land selection and preparation

Fangfeng has strong resistance to cold and drought, avoiding waterlogging or too wet soil, so try to plant in high-lying, sunny plots and low-lying and moist places. It does not have strict requirements for soil, but in order to achieve high yield, it is appropriate to plant sandy loam with deep soil layer, loose and fertile soil and good drainage, while the soil with heavy soil viscosity or high acidity and alkalinity is not suitable for planting. Fangfeng is a perennial plant, so it can grow smoothly. Before planting, it is necessary to apply sufficient basic fertilizer, applying 3000-4000 kg of farm manure and 20 kg of calcium phosphate per mu, ploughing it deeply and making high beds.

2. Methods of reproduction

There are two propagation methods of Fangfeng: seed and split root, of which seed reproduction is the main one, so we will explain seed propagation in detail. Sowing time can be chosen in spring or autumn, spring sowing is usually from March to April, and autumn sowing is from September to October. The seeds should be treated before sowing. Soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours so that they can absorb enough water before sowing. When sowing, we can generally sow in the furrow surface with a ditch depth of 2-3cm, sow the seeds, cover the soil and water to keep the soil moist, and the seedlings can emerge within one month, generally using seeds of 2-2.2kg per mu.

3. Field management

When the seedlings grow at 4-5cm, the distance between seedlings should be controlled at 5-7cm, and when the seedlings grow above 10cm, the seedlings should be fixed in time, and the distance between seedlings should be controlled at about 15cm. 2-3 times of intermediate ploughing and weeding should be carried out every year after seedling setting, so as to keep the field clean so as not to affect the growth of plants, and can also be carried out with soil cultivation in summer to prevent plant lodging and winter soil cultivation to facilitate root system overwintering. It is the peak season of plant growth from June to August, so topdressing should be done twice. Each time, human and animal manure and superphosphate can be used, and trenches can be opened between rows. In addition, Fangfeng should pick bolts in time, biennial in addition to seed, should be bolted, Fangfeng drought resistance is strong, so there is no need for irrigation, in the rainy period to timely drainage and waterlogging, so as to avoid root damage.

4. Pest control

Fangfeng is affected by several common diseases and insect pests when planting, which are powdery mildew, yellow-winged fennel borer and yellow Phoenix butterfly. Powdery mildew mainly develops in the period of high temperature in summer and autumn, which mainly harms the leaves. The application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer during planting can improve the disease resistance, strengthen the ventilation and light transmittance between plants, and prevent the disease. On the other hand, the yellow-winged fennel borer and the yellow Phoenix butterfly mainly harm the planted leaves, buds and fruits, which can be controlled by spraying trichlorfon or dichlorvos.
