According to statistics, there are more than 10000 species of succulent plants in the world, all of which originally lived in dry or salty places. However, with the development of high-tech technology, this kind of succulent food which can not be planted because of climate and geographical environment can be seen everywhere. No matter what kind of variety it is, either stem, leaf or root, there is always a part that is fat, thick and fleshy. Common succulent plants in the market also have a good-sounding name, such as Yulu, Mingyue, white peony, stone flower, rainbow jade, triangular glazed lotus and so on.

So how should succulent meat be farmed? let's introduce the most basic methods.

Basic requirements of succulent plants on soil

Loose and breathable, good drainage and water retention, containing a certain amount of humus, moderate particle size, no over-fine dust, weakly acidic or neutral (a few species can be slightly alkaline).

[soil] cinder is a commonly used ingredient, but almost all cinders contain sulfur, succulent plants are not allergic to sulfur, and sulfur has germicidal and insecticidal effects. From the comparison of planting for many years, the plants with cinder are more resistant than those without cinder, and are not easy to produce root rot and root pink scale. The cinder used is based on the fully burned particle cinder (it does not matter whether it contains underburned coal or not), followed by honeycomb cinder. There is a large amount of soil in honeycomb cinder, which should be crushed and screened if it is to be used. The cinder is watered before use to remove ash and alkalinity. The use of eggshell, eggshell ratio of 1 to 4, the effect is very good. Eggshell is a good breathable and diuretic plant, which is very useful to increase the air permeability of soil, of course, it can also increase the content of calcium. The eggshell should be crushed into 2-3mm. Generally speaking, garden soil accounts for about 4% of the plant material, and sand accounts for about 3%. But there are fine dust in garden soil and sand, as well as brick, vermiculite, perlite, blue stone and slag, which must be screened out and cleaned repeatedly before use. Plant ingredients do not have to be according to those listed by experts, nor is it a single ingredient, but the more complex the better. If you have brick, vermiculite, perlite, blue stone and slag in your hand, you can use all kinds of them, and the total amount should be controlled at about 1 prime 3. For example, egg shell, clam shell, bone powder, old lime, carbonized rice husk and other calcium-containing things are also available, then all kinds of use some, the total amount is controlled at about 10-20%. Different plants have different physical functions and different nutrients, and some miscellaneous materials are definitely better than single ingredients. No matter what kind of ingredient, it must be exposed to the sun for at least a few days before use.

Organic plants have these:

Rotten leaf soil: you can choose the gentleman orchid soil sold on the market, or you can collect sequoia or beech leaves for fermentation and disinfect them when used.

Peat: it is a lake plant buried in the ground for thousands of years. Now it is better produced in Jilin and Heilongjiang. High-quality peat brown, high content of organic matter, good fiber, loose texture, non-stick feel, strong adsorption, PH value is slightly acidic.

Sawdust: permeable, strong water retention, but because of its high carbon content, low nitrogen content, generally not used alone, can be mixed with some nitrogenous compounds such as bean cakes and other heap fermentation.

Rice chaff ash: rich in potassium fertilizer, PH value is slightly alkaline. To choose dark black, can not be white, and the structure should be uniform, not too fine.

Snake sawdust: the stem of a treated fern (Alsophila spinulosa). Hard brown, not perishable. With good drainage and certain fertility, it is a popular cultivation substrate in recent years.

Mountain mud: Huangshan mud: low content of organic matter, general drainage; Hongshan mud: high content of organic matter, heavy soil after watering, easy to harden after drying; Montenegro mud: high content of organic matter, good drainage and not easy to harden after watering. Black hill mud is generally used.

Fairy soil: a commonly used substrate for orchid cultivation. But it turns out that it is also quite good for succulent plants. It is characterized by complete nutrients, good drainage, no pollution and no weed seeds. After a year of potted plants, the aggregate structure is still very good.
