1. Sowing seeds

It is now the season to harvest seeds. Huahua harvested a lot of seeds a few days ago, ready to do a big job.

The mature peony seeds are black and red. We pull the seeds out of the cracked fruit and sow them immediately after harvest.

Soak the seeds in warm water for 12 hours, soak the seeds to accelerate germination, during which the seeds floating on the water surface with low maturity are removed to increase the germination rate of sowing.

Prepare loose and breathable soil and sow the seeds on the soil surface with a thickness of 2 to 3 times the diameter of the seeds.

The seeds of Paeonia lactiflora can only germinate after a certain low temperature and darkness. Generally speaking, after we sow in autumn, it will only sprout roots but not sprout, and it will germinate in April of the following year.

This kind of peony propagated by sowing takes at least 4 to 5 years to blossom, but a new variety of peony can be cultivated by this method of propagation.

2. Ramet

Ramet is our most commonly used way of reproduction, generally carried out from the beginning of September to the end of October every year, flowers planted in the ground must pay attention to the time of ramet, too early or too late.

After the branches and leaves of Paeonia lactiflora dried up, we cut it off, left the 10cm around the base of the stem, and dug out the root of Paeonia lactiflora with tools to prepare for ramets.

When ramet, each clump with 2-5 buds, cut along the texture of the root system, smear plant ash on the wound, and put it in a cool place to dry before planting.

It should be noted that the new plants after ramet propagation can not blossom until another year, but Huahua brings a solution to this problem.

When we split the plant, we can not dig out all the mother plant, but only dig the soil on one side and cut the root buds, so that the unmoved mother plant on the other side can blossom as usual!

As a matter of fact, like peony, peony is also propagated in autumn. This time should also be the time for flower fans to plant peonies.

When ramet, dig up the whole peony seedling, remove the soil, cut off along the texture of the root system, retain 3-5 branches in each clump, and leave them in a cool place for one day before planting.

When planting, pay attention to let the root system stretch naturally in the soil, and then hold the seedling with one hand and fill the soil with the other. When you are halfway through the filling, gently lift the root system up to prevent the nest root.
