Red worm is Chironomus larva, which is widely distributed in water. It is the natural bait of many kinds of aquatic animals, especially favored by fishing enthusiasts. When breeding aquatic animals, red insects are mostly chosen as feed, with good economic benefits and good breeding prospects. So how should it be raised? Let's go to the details next.

1. Culture conditions

Red insects like to live in micro-flow fertile water, so it is necessary to achieve this condition in artificial culture. at the end of spring and early autumn, red insects multiply in large numbers, and then they all float on the surface of the water, causing the surface to show reddish brown. At this time, just use a container to collect. If it is a small amount of culture, you can take back the bottom mud and the red worms together, and put them in glassware, preferably with natural water. If you want to use tap water, you should first put the tap water in the sun for 2-3 days. When raising, change the water once a day, take measures to prevent cold at low temperature, and use a red moist towel to cover the container to moisturize. In addition, the container is preferably large-caliber, so that red worms will surface similar to breathing, if the opening of the container is small, it will cause death.

2. Control the light source

The light source of breeding red worms is a key point, and red worms cannot be separated from the light, so the lights must not be turned off at night. If there is no light source at night, the red worms will easily die because they are too lazy to breathe. So you can use a 5-watt light bulb to pass through the light source at night.

3. Water quality control

It is best to control the water depth at 3-5cm when breeding, in spring, the water level can be slightly shallow in the daytime, which can increase the water temperature, and at night it can properly deepen the water level and play the role of heat preservation and cold protection. The red worm likes the micro-running water environment, but if the current is too large, it will take away the nutrients and eggs on the culture medium, and at the same time, it will also consume a lot of physical strength, which is not conducive to the discharge of water body and excretion, which is very easy to worsen the water quality and cause death. according to practical production, 5-10 liters of water flow per second is the best flow environment. In addition, red insects are extremely sensitive to pesticides and harmful substances, which should be paid attention to in water quality management, and do not use water sprayed with pesticides and industrial wastewater.

4. Bait feeding

Red insects mainly eat organic detritus in the soil, especially sweet and acidic bait, poultry feces, domestic sewage and so on are their bait. In professional farms, rice bran, sawing, silt, pigeon dung and other raw materials are generally used to make feed after fermentation, while in the case of household breeding, yeast powder can be used to soak water and feed. Feeding is also the key point of red worm production, a small number of times can increase the yield, generally 3-4 days once, each time 50-100 kg of manure per mu, it will be mixed with water and sprinkled throughout the pond. When feeding, we should pay attention to the number of residual bait, do not cast more blindly, lest too much organic matter in the water will cause fermentation to produce toxic substances and affect the yield.
