Let's learn about how to grow peppermint.

1. Time

The planting time of peppermint needs to be determined according to the climate of the planting site and the method of planting peppermint. It is usually planted in spring and autumn every year. If seeds are sown, they are planted in March, April and September every year. The second is to use rhizome planting to plant in April or August every year, while ramet planting can be transplanted as long as the seedlings grow to about 10 to 15 centimeters. Cutting planting is best planted in May and June.

2. Soil

Peppermint planting soil selection has certain requirements, it is generally best to choose sandy loam or alluvial soil for planting, before planting to carry on the soil pH test, the pH is too large can not be planted, at the same time the planting land can not appear low-lying or stagnant areas, the drainage system should be more perfect, the land should be deep ploughing, but also pay attention to loose soil and soil cultivation, so as not to consolidate the land and affect the growth of mint.

3. Temperature

Peppermint is a kind of plant that likes warmth and is tolerant to low temperature and high temperature. under normal circumstances, it is best to grow in an environment with a temperature of about 25 to 30 degrees. At the same time, it should be noted that the lowest temperature should not be lower than 15 degrees below zero, otherwise it will freeze to death. But in most parts of our country, it is rarely able to reach minus 15 degrees, so there is no need to worry that it will freeze to death. But in order to make mint grow better and faster, the most suitable temperature is between 20 and 30 degrees, so we can regulate the temperature manually.

4. Fertilization

The growth of mint needs a lot of nutrients, because it is mainly to promote the growth of branches and leaves, as well as to promote its reproductive efficiency, so it is basically based on nitrogen fertilizer, which usually needs to be applied every other month or so. This can maintain the vitality of peppermint, during this period can also apply some phosphate fertilizer, potash fertilizer and so on, if it is sold as a potted plant, it is more necessary to apply fertilizer before sale. This can maintain the green and plant type of peppermint, which can improve the economic benefits of peppermint.

5. Watering

Peppermint's demand for water needs to be strictly controlled. It is suitable to grow in a relatively humid environment, but it also has certain drought tolerance. In order to increase the yield of peppermint, it needs to be watered many times in the whole growth process. In its seedling period, it generally needs to be watered every half a month or so, and it needs the most water in the middle of growth. Generally, it needs watering every five to seven days.

6. Pruning

If we are engaged in mint culture for many years, we need to build mint, which can not only increase the yield of mint, but also improve the quality of mint. Mature mint leaves can be harvested in batches at the right time so that they can be harvested many times in a year, and the quality of the collected mint leaves is also excellent, but if there is no timely harvest, then the fragrance of the old mint leaves will not be strong. Naturally, the quality has declined.
