Fennel is one of the seasonings commonly used in our life because of its unique fragrance. It has a wide range of uses and is also widely planted, but it will suffer from diseases when planting fennel, which will seriously affect the yield and quality of fennel. So what diseases will fennel suffer when it is planted? Let's take a look at the prevention and control of common diseases and insect pests of fennel to reduce losses.

1. Fennel powdery mildew

Powdery mildew mainly harms the aboveground stems and leaves, and generally occurs in the more mature parts at the time of the disease, and white powdery disease spots appear in the leaves at the time of the disease. with the development of the disease, the disease spots gradually expanded and fused until abnormally thick white powder appeared on the stems and leaves. when the disease is serious, the leaves fade, atrophy and wither.

Prevention and control methods: in the initial stage of the disease, trimethoprim, methyl thiophanate and chlorothalonil can be sprayed and treated for 2-3 times in a row without 10 days of spraying.

2. Fennel root rot

Root rot mainly harms plant roots, resulting in dead seedlings or rotten roots, which will cause plant death and affect yield when the disease is serious. During the onset of the disease, the root system appeared waterlogged disease spot, and then gradually turned into black-brown disease spot, and finally the main root showed yellow rust color and rotted. In the humid environment, a white mildew layer appeared on the surface of the rhizome, and the plant leaves withered and necrotic.

Control methods: before sowing, carbendazim can be used to disinfect and sterilize the soil, or at the initial stage of the disease, the roots can be irrigated with dicarbazim or Tekedo suspension.

3. Sclerotinia sclerotiorum

Sclerotinia sclerotiorum mainly harms stems and leaves, the lesion is brown and moist, gradually becomes soft and rotten, arachnoid mold is entangled in the later stage of the disease, and dark-brown sclerotia is produced inside the stem.

Prevention and control methods: reasonable rotation, in planting can be made of pentachloronitrobenzene mixed with soil into toxic soil, sprinkled on the ground disinfection, in the initial stage of the disease can be sprayed pentachloronitrobenzene, hydantoin prevention and treatment.

4. Fennel gray mold

Botrytis cinerea mainly harms the position of leaves and petioles of fennel, and sometimes also harms the bulb. generally, it invades the disease from the wounds in the petiole, resulting in leaf necrosis and decay, and produces a large number of gray mold layer, while the corm is infected with water-stained gray-brown disease spots, which gradually soften and rot, resulting in a large number of gray mold layer.

Control methods: the soil and seeds can be disinfected with carbendazim or carbendazim before sowing, and Tectol, carbendazim and trimethoprim can be sprayed at the initial stage of the disease.

5. Fennel virus disease

Virus disease can harm the whole plant. It is one of the common viral diseases, which can be transmitted by aphids or by watering and fertilizing. When the disease occurs, the leaves are wrinkled and deformed, twisted and tangled or mottled flowers and leaves, and the plant growth is limited, which affects the normal flowering and fruiting of the plant.

Prevention and control methods: strengthen the prevention and control of aphids, avoid spreading the disease through aphids, and apply virus-free fertilizer and water by watering and fertilizing. in the process of planting, it can increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer and improve the disease resistance of plants. in the early stage of the disease, it can be sprayed with phytoling emulsion or potassium permanganate.
