Snails are very common in China, and they are also unique to our country. They are very popular midnight snacks in our country. The market demand is very big, it is a kind of aquaculture project with good breeding prospect. It is also one of the species that are more suitable for rural farming. Although screw farming is extensive, it is not simple. The management of snails is very important, so how should we manage it when we breed it? Let's take a look at it.

1. Water quality management

Screw ponds should change water regularly to ensure that the water quality is suitable for the growth of snails, which is more important during the snail breeding period, and try to ensure that the water is in a flowing state. In the summer high temperature season to ensure that the flow of water can effectively cool down, the water in the snail pond should not be too deep, the maximum depth should not exceed 40 cm. To properly adjust the PH value of the water body, quicklime can be used to neutralize the pH, and the adjustment frequency can be determined according to the condition of the water body, usually once every half a month. The PH value of about 7 is the most suitable range for snail growth.

2. Bait feeding

Before stocking, apply an appropriate amount of farm manure to the pond to cultivate plankton, because plankton can be used as bait for snails. The specific dosage depends on the quantity of culture in the pond and the water quality. After stocking, you can put in some vegetable cakes, animal offal and so on as feeding bait, we should pay attention to chopping up the bait, not all put in, snails are not good to eat. How much to feed depends on the snail intake and weight, and the feeding frequency can be controlled at about once every 2 days. When the ambient temperature exceeds the range of 15-30 degrees, the snail stops eating, and we can also stop feeding.

3. Disease prevention and treatment

The prevention and treatment of snail disease is mainly based on prevention, and snail culture is generally mixed with herbivorous fish. Therefore, we should also pay attention to the occurrence of fish diseases while preventing and controlling snail diseases. Most of them will put copper sulfate into the pond when preventing and curing fish disease. in fact, copper sulfate is fatal to snails, so we have to control the use of copper sulfate. Quicklime is an important substance for snail disease prevention, and regular sprinkling of quicklime in the process of breeding can effectively prevent diseases. It can also increase the calcium in the water and promote the growth of snails. The interval of each sprinkling is about half a month.

4. Overwintering management

Snails need to hibernate. When the water temperature is below 10 degrees, the snails will begin to drill into the mud for hibernation, leaving small holes in the mud surface for breathing. Snails will not eat when overwintering, although there is no need to feed, but we should keep the depth of the pond and change the water regularly to ensure that there is enough dissolved oxygen in the water. After the success of overwintering, it is almost time to harvest, the reproduction ability of snails is relatively strong, we only need to retain an appropriate amount of female snails and immature young snails, we can do the work of replanting, and we do not need to buy seedlings to replant.

When harvesting, we should pay attention to that we can't catch all the snails in one go. If we want to increase the yield, we need to keep some of the snails for spawning. First, after the larger collection, redistribute the collection according to the collection standard, usually once every half a month. When fishing, we should pay attention to prevent snails from being injured and affect the value of goods. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it will be helpful to you.
