Common diseases and control of eel
Eel is a common fish, it is different from other fish in that its body is very long, like a snake, and very thin without scales. Eel can effectively ward off cold and is rich in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. With the increasing prevalence of eel fishing in recent years, the eel population has gradually declined. Artificial culture is hot, but there are many diseases in artificial culture, so what are the diseases? How to prevent and cure it? Let's have a look!
1. Rotten tail disease
Disease characteristics: rotting tail disease is caused by infection of the injured wound on the body. after the disease, the skin of the diseased fish begins to fall off and the meat begins to rot. It usually occurs below the neck and mouth, the diseased fish is weak, and the rotting position will appear and the color will begin to darken. When the disease is serious, the tail rots and falls off directly, and fish bones and meat can be seen exposed outside. The incidence is less in winter, and it mainly occurs in juvenile fish.
Prevention and treatment: observe whether there is a wound in the fry when buying seeds, and be careful to prevent the fry from being injured during transportation. Carefully check whether there are diseased fish and fry that die during transportation when releasing the fry, and pick them out to prevent the spread of the disease. And the fry need to be disinfected and then put into the pond, and the sick fish can be soaked in formalin for treatment.
2. Enteritis
Characteristics of the disease: enteritis is caused by infection of the gastrointestinal tract of eels, which is generally caused by excessive eating of eels, moldy feed, poor water quality or insufficient dissolved oxygen. All these are caused by improper management of breeders, and there is no reasonable feeding method. The food intake of diseased fish will gradually decline and die when dysentery is severe. Dead eels can be found in the anus red and swollen, there will be a very unpleasant smell, fin congestion, usually occurs in big fish.
Prevention and control methods: make a reasonable feeding plan, regular and quantitative, observe the change of water quality, change water and inject oxygen in time. To control the culture density of the pond, an oxygen injection equipment can be added at the edge of the pond if possible. After the onset of the disease, the amount of feeding should be reduced, and an appropriate amount of chloramphenicol and other drugs should be mixed in the feed for treatment.
3. Water mildew
Disease characteristics: as the name implies, water mold occurs because of water mold infection, which belongs to fungi. It usually occurs when the eel is injured and the resistance is weak. When the incidence is highest when the temperature is low, white lines appear in the tail of diseased fish and more mucus is secreted on the skin. Sick fish have difficulty in swimming, lose their appetite or do not eat, and eventually die. It usually occurs in young fish and has a high mortality rate.
Prevention and treatment: like rotting tail disease, check whether there are diseased fish when purchasing seeds and transportation to prevent injuries during transportation. Wash the fish fry with salt water before stocking. To often disinfect the pond, you can use solutions such as formalin when disinfecting. After the onset of the disease, the water temperature should be raised in time, not less than 25 degrees, lasting about seven days. It can also be washed with chemicals such as furacilin.
These are the diseases that often occur in farmed eel, these are bacterial injuries, as well as parasitic diseases. Rotifers, for example, suck cells on the gills and surface of the fish, causing eels to lose their appetite and are very likely to cause other diseases. It is necessary to disinfect the pond in time, fish out the sick fish, and strengthen the management of the pond. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only.
