The use value of Ophiopogon is relatively high, it is not only a kind of ornamental plant, but also its medicinal value is extremely high. In recent years, the market demand of Ophiopogon is increasing, but the planting scale of Ophiopogon has not changed much. So the market slowly appears the phenomenon that supply falls short of demand, the market price of Ophiopogon also rises, naturally some people see the business opportunity to plant. So today let's take a look at what we need to pay attention to when planting Ophiopogon.

1. Variety

After years of planting, there are many varieties of Ophiopogon japonicus, but there are still only two varieties with the most planting. Decibels are upright Ophiopogon japonicus and creeping Ophiopogon japonicus. The difference between them is that the upright Ophiopogon japonicus produces larger fruit and better quality, but the yield is relatively less, while the creeping Ophiopogon japonicus has high yield, but the fruit is not very large, so we can plant the two varieties together when planting. Because the management and planting methods are the same, so the economic benefits can also be guaranteed.

2. Soil

The previous crop of Ophiopogon japonicus can not be land such as melons and fruits, because such soil has more diseases and insect pests, and the soil fertility is not sufficient to maintain the normal growth of Ophiopogon japonicus. Secondly, Ophiopogon japonicus planting land can not be selected in places with stagnant water, at the same time, continuous cropping can not be carried out, and the soil pH of the planting land should be moderate, or alkaline, and can not be planted in acidic soil. Therefore, the pH test should be done when selecting the site, and the drainage system should be done well in advance to facilitate the drainage and irrigation in the later stage.

3. Temperature

Ophiopogon is usually planted around April and May every year, when the sudden temperature has basically rebounded, and the average temperature has basically reached about 18 to 20 degrees. At the same time, it is best to plant in cloudy days. In this way, the survival rate of planting can be basically guaranteed. Ophiopogon japonicus is a kind of plant that likes temperature and humidity, but it can not always survive in an environment with strong light and too high temperature, so we need to do a good job of shading and cooling in summer, and its cold resistance is good. It can germinate and grow normally at low temperature.

4. Methods

The planting method of Ophiopogon japonicus is generally divided into plants and transplants, so many people have not planted fruit to buy seeds before, so they need to purchase seedlings from the outside. Then we should pay attention to choosing vigorous, disease-free and robust seedlings and send letters to you to plant them. Before planting, we need to cut off the tubers and roots on the seedlings. Then plant it at a distance of 30 centimeters per behavior and 20 centimeters per plant.

5. Water and fertilizer

The seedlings of Ophiopogon japonicus should be watered in time after planting, which can promote the root growth of Ophiopogon japonicus seedlings, thus improving their survival rate. Ophiopogon japonicus is a kind of hygrophilic plant, so the soil moisture in the field should be kept above 70%. Do not water as much as possible in winter, but loosen the soil properly, which is beneficial to the absorption and storage of water. The fertilization management of Ophiopogon needs scientific fertilization according to the growth and development period of Ophiopogon. Except for base fertilizer, it is generally necessary to apply fertilizer twice a year. The first fertilizer is when the seedlings of Ophiopogon japonicus grow new roots. Urea, phosphate and potassium fertilizer are mainly applied in holes or furrows, and the second time is when the tubers of Ophiopogon japonicus are enlarged, the appropriate amount of calcium fertilizer is added to irrigate on the basis of the first fertilization.

6. Diseases and insect pests

The main disease of Ophiopogon is root rot leaf spot, and the most common pest is nematode. Root rot and leaf spot mostly occur in high temperature and rainy season in summer. usually we can improve soil structure and strengthen water management in the field by soaking seeds and fertilizing scientifically. And when the disease occurs, Bordeaux solution is used for prevention and control, at least two or three sprays are needed to cure it.
