Adventitious roots are not roots that grow from the roots, but from other organs of the plant, such as leaves and stems. Tomato adventitious root is a very common phenomenon, usually the plant is undernourished, when stunted, in order to get more nutrition, it will produce a large number of adventitious roots to absorb nutrients. However, too many adventitious roots will have a certain impact on the fruiting rate of the plant, so what is the reason for the adventitious roots of tomatoes? How to prevent and cure it? Let's have a look!

1. Improper fertilization

Reason: most growers do not have a correct way to use fertilizer, for example, they only know how to use farm manure when applying base fertilizer, but farm manure is not fully mature and produces a lot of heat after application. Or when applying fertilizer in the hole, the amount of fertilizer is not controlled properly, resulting in too high concentration, which will lead to root burning and a large number of adventitious roots.

Prevention and control: when using the base fertilizer, we must fully mature it, and then control the amount of fertilizer. If it has been planted, chitin and other agents should be used in time to neutralize.

2. Excessive moisture

The reason: the soil is too wet, or there is no timely drainage in cloudy and rainy weather, stagnant water will cause plant retting root phenomenon or bring a lot of harmful substances to harm the roots of the plant. And will also increase the incidence of diseases and insect pests, such as root rot, Verticillium wilt and so on will lead to root retting. This leads to adventitious roots.

Prevention and treatment: timely discharge of excess water in the orchard, pay attention to the protection of the root in the later stage of planting, the appropriate use of chitin and other agents to promote plant growth and improve the resistance of the root.

3. Improper use of inhibitors

Reason: in order to prevent overgrowth of plants, many growers spray inhibitors to control the growth rate of plants. However, the dosage was not well controlled during spraying, and the excessive use of inhibitors greatly hindered the growth of the plant. The absorptive capacity of the root becomes worse, which promotes the plant to grow a large number of adventitious roots.

Prevention and treatment: to control the use of inhibitors, proper spraying is necessary, but should never be oversprayed and should be sprayed evenly. After excessive use, a little cytokinin can be sprayed properly to promote plant cell division and enhance plant growth.

4. Disease harm

Cause: disease is also one of the main causes of adventitious roots in tomatoes, especially some bacterial diseases. Such as necrosis and bacterial wilt, these diseases can harm the vascular bundle system of plants. After the vascular bundle system is destroyed, the speed of transporting nutrients becomes very slow, and plants are forced to grow a large number of adventitious roots in order to increase nutrition.

Prevention and treatment: do a good job in the prevention of various diseases, disinfect the orchard regularly, and remove the fallen leaves and fruits and some diseased bodies in time. Can be used to prevent and control it, but pay attention to the dosage.

Adventitious roots will have a great impact on the growth of tomatoes, and will do great harm to the fruit rate and quality. Although a small number of adventitious roots are good for plant growth, most people allow adventitious roots to grow, resulting in a decline in yield. Therefore, when we find adventitious roots, we must deal with them in time. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it will be helpful to you.
