Causes of Cucumber bending and its solution
Cucumber is one of our common vegetables, whether growers or consumers like the symmetrical, straight and long ones. If you choose the bending phenomenon of cucumber when planting, it will affect the commodity value and lead to a decline in income, which is a headache. So what is the cause of cucumber bending? How to solve the problem? Let's take a look.
I. physiological reasons
1. Lack of fertility
When cucumber is growing, if the plant can not supply enough nutrients, it will easily appear the phenomenon of cucumber bending or deformed melon, so when the plant is large, the demand for fertility is extremely huge, a large amount of lack of nutrition will lead to poor growth, affecting yield and quality.
2. The temperature is not good
The suitable growth temperature of yellowing is 10-32 degrees. When planting in greenhouse, if the temperature in daytime is more than 35 degrees, but the temperature at night is lower, and the temperature difference between day and night is large, it will affect the photosynthesis of cucumber and make its growth curved.
3. Lack of light
Light is also one of the reasons for cucumber bending, the length of light is related to plant photosynthesis, so that the synthesis of plant nutrients is slow, can not supply enough nutrients to make its growth and development, resulting in problems in all aspects of cucumber growth, leading to growth bending.
3. Improper watering
Cucumber needs a lot of water when it grows, but only in the late stage of seedling and cucumber growth, it should not be watered at flowering stage and just bearing melon, otherwise it will cause the fruit to expand and cause bending.
Second, physical reasons
Cucumber is a kind of vine vegetable, it needs to build a frame to draw vines in order to make its growth exuberant, and improve its yield and quality, but if the melon and fruit are blocked by rope and fork, it will lead to abnormal bending when growing. In addition, if the cucumber is in contact with or close to the ground when growing, because the space is narrow, it will cause it to bend and not straighten when growing, forming a root melon.
III. Solutions
In view of the bending caused by physiological and physical reasons, preventive measures should be taken, reasonable and scientific watering and fertilization should be taken, temperature and light should be controlled during growth, cucumber bending should be reduced as much as possible, and root melons should be removed in time. When there are curved cucumbers, remedial measures should be taken. If they are young melons with less bending, they can be straightened by falling objects at the bottom; they can also be treated by smearing growth regulators, and gibberellin will be smeared on the inner surface of curved melons after a few days. Curved melons will straighten. Preventive measures can also be taken in the early stage, such as appropriately increasing planting density and reducing yield per plant, thinning flowers and fruits in time, aging leaves and reducing curved melons; borax and potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can also be sprayed regularly to prevent curved melons or deformed melons.
The above are the causes and solutions of cucumber bending. I hope it can help you. If you want to know more about cucumber planting, please follow us.
