In the process of cultivating orchid roots first and then maintaining orchids, we generally wrap the roots with moss, and then plant them in pots, or spread a layer of moss on the surface of orchid pots, which can play a very good role in moisturizing, and is more breathable. As long as there is not too much watering, there will be no problem of rotten roots. So in addition to moss, is there any other good material that is more draining and breathable?

This good material is sawdust, but it is best to buy sawdust that has been fermented. In fact, flower friends can only ferment sawdust themselves if they have time. Put it in a sack and put it in a bag. Then put it outside for half a year. It can also be mixed with soil and fermented in a large container for about half a year.

Then mix some sawdust with water soaked for 24 hours, and then re-dried without residue, and then put in some dry fermented livestock manure, you can use it as nutrient soil. After the orchids are potted, the damaged roots are easier to recover, and the fermented sawdust also contains more nutrients, which can quickly take root after changing pots.

If orchids do not change the date of the pot, you can also use sawdust fermentation good nutrient soil, supplement to the pot soil, as long as the small shovel loose pot soil, and then sawdust soil mixed into it, and then put some dry fertilizer, a watering thoroughly. After a week, you can re-mix some sawdust soil, when the nutrients continue to release, orchid growth is stronger and stronger, flowers and leaves flourish.

Of course, when changing pots, you can directly use sawdust fermented nutrient soil, or use 1 part of rotten leaf soil, plus 1 part of garden soil, mixed with 1 part of sawdust. The biggest characteristic of sawdust is that it is relatively loose, breathable, warm and moist. Long-term watering will make the soil harden and not easy to ventilate. At this time, it is best to use sawdust mixed nutrient soil to maintain orchids. It can keep warm in winter and moisturize in summer. It can also promote the growth of new roots and restore vitality to plants.

In the north, it is difficult for orchids to grow because of the salinization of the soil. If you use some rotten leaf soil and sawdust to raise orchids, you will make the false bulbs bigger, the buds stronger, the roots fat, and the roots will appear translucent condensed fat, so it is not easy to rot the roots.

Sawdust decays over time, so mix it with other nutrient soils when used as orchid substrate. And sawdust is suitable for fungus growth, and rotten root orchid bacteria grow well, so that the orchid root state has been maintained, this is a natural pollution-free cultivation substrate.
