Picture and text: this girl is a little sweet.

Magic jade, also known as Ayanayao jade, belongs to the general name of the species (or stone grass), which is referred to as "living stone". Because of its unique shape and colorful, it has become a very popular ornamental plant. In order to adapt to the environment, it evolved from dicotyledons to succulent typical bulbous plants, relying on water storage tissue in the cortex to preserve a rare bit of water. Its top surface is called "window". There is chlorophyll in the window for photosynthesis. The top is slightly flat, with a gap in the middle from which 3-4-year-old plants produce yellow, white or pink flowers in autumn.

Morphological characteristics

Small perennial succulent plants. The stem is so short that it is often invisible. The abnormal leaves are fleshy and fleshy, and the two opposite leaves are connected to form an inverted cone. There are many varieties, each with its own characteristics. The 3-4-year-old magic jade blossoms yellow, white, pink and other colors from the middle gap of opposite leaves in autumn, mostly blooms in the afternoon, closes in the evening, and blossoms again in the afternoon the next day. A single flower can bloom for 7ml for 10 days. When it blossoms, the flower almost covers the whole plant, which is very delicate. After the flowers fade, they bear fruit, and very small seeds can be harvested. Magic jade, such as colorful stone, rich in color, petite and exquisite, enjoys the laudatory name of "living stone".

The whole plant is fleshy and the stem is very short. Fleshy leaves opposite, shaped like an inverted cone. There are light gray brown, blue gray, gray green, gray brown and other colors, the top is nearly oval, flat or raised, there are dendritic grooves, translucent. Flowers grow from a small gap in the middle of the top, yellow or white. One plant usually blooms only one flower (rarely 2mi 3), opens in the afternoon, closes in the evening, and can last 4 mi for 6 days, with a flower diameter of 3-5cm. It is easy to bear fruit and seeds after flowering.

Growing environment

Like sunshine, the suitable temperature for growth is 20 ℃-24 ℃, and it should be cultured on the southward balcony or windowsill in spring and autumn, which is the prosperous period of its growth, and should be watered every 3 seconds every 5 days to promote growth and flowering. The growth law of magic jade is that it begins to grow from March to April, pauses in the high temperature season, enters the summer dormancy period, continues to grow and blossom after cool autumn, and enters the overwintering period after flower fade.

Country of origin

Originally from the extremely dry and rainless desert gravel zone of Cape, South Africa, the annual rainfall is below 250mm, with an average temperature of 10 ℃ in winter and 25 ℃ in summer. Dormant in the dry season, the sphere gradually shrinks and buries into the soil, leaving only the top surface exposed to the surface like gravel. This kind of "mimicry" can prevent birds and animals from swallowing.

Reproduction

Multi-purpose sowing and reproduction, suitable for autumn sowing. Seedlings can emerge 20 days after sowing. Avoid excessive dampness at seedling stage. Dormancy or semi-dormancy when high temperature in summer, should be slightly shaded and controlled watering.
