Attention

Many flower friends travel for a few days, and the hydroponic plants at home, such as green pineapple and money grass, are unable to change water. When they come back, they inadvertently find something moving in the water. Take a closer look, and there are many worms like earthworms. What is the problem of worms growing in the water and how to prevent it?

What's with the bugs in the water?

Hydroponic plant water insects should be "larvae" (mosquito larvae). The environment in hydroponic flower containers is very similar to that in wild ponds, where mosquitoes like to lay eggs and breed. Mosquitoes reproduce so fast that they can hatch new mosquitoes in two or three days.

How to control and prevent

If hydroponic plants have already given birth to insects, the water must be completely changed as soon as possible to prevent mosquitoes from hatching. Hydroponic plants are smart and clean and easy to take care of. In hot summer, when mosquitoes are active, the water in the hydroponic container should be changed every two or three days, so that mosquito eggs cannot hatch successfully.

If you are afraid that changing water too often will damage the growth of plants, you can also try the following methods:

1. Fish culture in water:

Raise small fish in the water, fish can eat worms in the water. Disadvantages: generally small hydroponic space, less oxygen, fish easy to die without oxygen.

2. Use cold boiled water to cultivate hydroponics:

Pour out the original water in the bottle, wash the bottle and root, boil the tap water to room temperature, and then pour it into the bottle. After the water is boiled, it can effectively kill the bacteria in the water, so that the insects in the water can not grow normally.

3. Put vitamin B2 in the water:

Put one or two tablets of vitamin B2 in water (available at drugstores); mosquitoes hate vitamin B2. Put one or two tablets of vitamin B2 in water to dissolve it to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs and hatching in hydroponic containers. Cons: the color of the water is not very good.

4. Add pesticides to the water:

You can drop a few drops of insecticide in the water or soak a small amount of water to kill the eggs in the water. Disadvantages: pesticides are toxic and should be used with caution.

Aphids are also the most common pest in flower cultivation. Aphids with sucking mouths can pierce the epidermis of plants and absorb plant nutrients. In addition, aphids have strong fecundity. If they are not managed, they will soon reproduce a large area. Here are two practical and effective tips for dealing with aphids.

Method one

Production materials:

Orange peel, cold boiled water, detergent

Production method:

Put 50 grams of orange peel in the beverage bottle, then add 500ML's lukewarm boiled water, soak for 5 hours, cool, drop 2 drops of detergent, shake well.

How to use it:

After the aphids are found, the aphids can be eliminated by spraying them evenly on the branches and leaves and spraying them 2-3 times continuously.

Method two

Production materials:

Tobacco (leftover cigarette butts), cold water

Production method:

Put 20 grams of tobacco in the beverage bottle, then add 500ML's warm boiled water and soak for 3 days.

How to use it:

Spray after filtration, can control aphids, red spiders and newly hatched scale insects, generally can be sprayed about 3 times can be eliminated.

Method three

Production materials:

Soap (or washing clothes), cold boiled water

Production method:

Slice the remaining soap, add 60 times as much hot water to the beverage bottle and shake it well.

How to use it:

Spraying on the leaves with aphids after cooling can kill aphids and control red spiders, thrips, whiteflies and leafhoppers.

Note:

Soapy water can not be used for a long time, otherwise it will cause basin soil alkalization.
