Summer is a very beautiful season for hydrangea flowering, but some friends cultivate hydrangea in flowerpots and cannot blossom for 3 or 4 years. What is the reason for this?

Hydrangea can be planted in the shady environment in the courtyard, it does not need much light, it can be raised in a semi-shaded environment, and can grow well with appropriate scattered light every day, which can be used to replenish its flowers in the yard and is very suitable for making dried or cut flowers.

The flower of hydrangea looks like a big fluffy ball, it is actually a deciduous shrub, if the winter is cold, the leaves on the branches will fall one after another, and the leaves can remain green all the year round in the south. Hydrangea can produce very charming flowers in summer, and hydrangea can grow up to one or two meters high. It can also be kept in a flowerpot with a height of about 40 to 50 centimeters.

There are many varieties and colors of hydrangea, including common white, pink, purple, red, blue and even green. with the continuous maturity of hydrangea, the color of its flowers will change a little. Some hydrangea flowers have two different colors. Although I have not planted pink hydrangeas myself, I see some hydrangeas mixed with blue and pink in the flower market.

Hydrangea can also change the color of flowers by changing the acidity and basicity of the soil. If there is more acidity in the soil, the flowers will turn blue, and if there is more alkaline in the soil, the flowers will turn red. If you want the hydrangea to have blue flowers, you can give some aluminum sulfate when preparing to breed the flowers.

If you want Hydrangea to have pink flowers, you can add some plant ash or lime to the soil. Of course, there are some varieties of flowers that cannot be changed.

It is very important to maintain the environment of hydrangea. If you want to promote hydrangea to produce brilliant and charming flowers every spring and summer, we should give hydrangea fertile, loose and draining, good soil, keep the soil moist during the growing season, and avoid excessive drought.

Slow-acting organic liquid fertilizer can be given once every 3-4 weeks in spring and summer. Regular supplement of fertilizer can help promote flowering, preferably organic fertilizer.

Hydrangeas stay hydrated during the growing season. In addition to regular watering, you can also cover the soil with mulch, such as common rods, hay or peat.

After the hydrangea flowers withered, cut off the residual flowers in time, which is beneficial to more flowers. During maintenance to avoid freezing, appropriate cold protection in winter, potted hydrangea can be moved indoors, the lowest maintenance temperature is kept above 4 degrees.

After the autumn turns cold, hydrangea should stop fertilizing and can be pruned properly, but the pruning should not be too big. Some varieties breed flowers on new branches, that is, they should be pruned regularly. If they are varieties that bloom on old branches, they cannot be pruned, so you should know clearly about the varieties of hydrangea before cultivation.

Some friends like to cut hydrangea flowers into flower arrangement. You should cultivate them with clean water, change water every day, spray water on the flowers every day, keep them moist, and keep the flower arrangement cool, so that you can maintain a longer viewing period.
