In the Dutch city of Utrecht, there is a floral workshop where dead flowers, dead insects continue to survive in another way.

And the man who gave them new life was Anne Ten Donkelaar.

The petals, branches and leaves picked up on the road, the insects and butterflies that died naturally in the zoo or botanical garden all have different meanings in Anne's hands. In her own unique way, she mixed with the flower paper-cuts collected in life, carefully cut, collage and composition. The ruin and withering of life can also shine so brightly.

? Flower Constructions

Anne studied industrial design before, and her job is to design floral patterns and embroidery on pillows, so those flowers and plants can always inspire her, she often pins them on inspired pages, observing the whole composition and shape.

Anne later found that the layout she used to inspire herself was more interesting than simple flower embroidery, so she devoted herself to flower collages, which was the starting point of her work Flower Constructions.

Holland is a well-organized city, punctuality and planning are Dutch habits.

Anne likes to ride her bike around the Netherlands, but she also yearned for wild nature, and her creative inspiration came more from her desire to travel abroad or fantasies about other planets. For example, imagine a planet full of plants and flowers.

Life is the source of art, she will often go to nature walks, to some jewelry stores, studios, garden markets and so on to find inspiration.

Learn the Yin carving technique. Anne said she wasn't familiar with the technology before, but was curious about how to use it. So she did a little experiment: she pressed the flowers into the machine, and eventually the color came off the flowers, leaving a little pigment and flower structure on the paper. The result surprised her.

Anne said that the most attractive part of the flower collage is that the work created looks like it comes entirely from nature, but in fact the whole process is almost entirely handmade by humans.

For Anne, soothing is the most meaningful part of a work.

A guest once called her after the funeral of a loved one and asked her to make a flower painting for the funeral.

Anne dries the flowers, makes frames and structures, and secures them in a frame with a door that she can lift when she misses the dead to see the flowers inside.

The guest was delighted to receive Anne's work, and the guest's emotions and feelings for the deceased gave the work a different and deeper meaning.

In Anne's mind, the ideal life is: in a warm country, find a village near the sea to live, have a big garden, full of flowers and fruit.

? Broken Butterflies

Inject vitality into the already withered life and repair the incomplete life. In Anne's heart, this is also a "shining" thing!

Flowers, stems and slender needles create colorful gardens, and the effect of light and shadow makes the whole flower painting more three-dimensional and has a sense of vitality.

Flower structure is a three-dimensional collage embossed, engraved flower pictures. Each element is carefully placed in the picture to produce depth. This is a universe full of fantasy flowers.

Imagine a big explosion, with flower seeds hurled into space like fireworks. What's gonna happen? The new flowers evolve and bloom like nebulae. These landscapes are full of space, as if you can walk through it.
