Ligusticum chuanxiong (Ligusticum chuanxiong) is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine plant growing in mild climate. It has a long history of cultivation in China and sells well at home and abroad. It has the effect of promoting blood circulation and promoting qi, dispelling wind and relieving pain. It is mainly produced in Sichuan and is also planted in Yunnan, Guangxi and other places. Let's take a look at the planting techniques with the editor.

1. Land selection and preparation

Select the sunny land with cool climate and high terrain, Ligusticum chuanxiong is suitable to plant sandy soil in the dam land, weed and reclaim before planting, or burn the grass into charcoal to make fertilizer, turn the soil deeply into 30cm, rake fine and level out, and make a bed 1.5m wide. Base fertilizer can be applied during soil preparation. 2000 kg of organic manure per mu is applied to spread the border surface and mix it with the topsoil when digging.

2. Planting

Start planting in early August, no later than the end of August, otherwise the temperature will affect the growth of seedlings, serious will lead to seedling withering and death, planting as far as possible to choose sunny days. Dig up part of the underground rhizomes that are robust, immature and withered, dig 150-300 kg per mu, and move them to the mountainous area to cultivate seed stems. Planting in trenches on the border surface, controlling the row spacing of 30 × 20cm, placing the seed stem flat in the ditch, and the buds were planted upward and positively pressed into the soil to make it contact with the soil, but some of the node plates were exposed to the soil surface, covered with compost or dung after planting, and then covered with a layer of straw, which could not only keep warm and wet, but also reduce the damage caused by strong light and rainstorm.

3. Field management

The covered straw can be removed after planting for half a month, and the straw can be removed by ploughing and weeding once or twice a month, and careful observation should be paid to it. When it is found that there is a lack of seedlings, the seedlings can be replenished combined with mid-tillage and weeding, and then the soil can be cultivated in the rhizome so that it can survive the winter safely. Topdressing 2-3 times within two months after planting to ensure adequate nutrient growth and development, topdressing every 20 days, 1000 kg of farm manure, 100kg of plant ash, 25kg of ammonium sulfate, 40kg of superphosphate and 10kg of potassium sulfate. The temperature is cold in winter, in order to make the plant survive the winter safely, cut off the withered stems and leaves, loosen the soil and weed and cover it with a layer of fine soil to protect it from winter.

4. Harvesting and processing

The harvest time is generally in May of the second year after planting, when the large and small rhizomes have fully matured, if dug too early, the rhizome is mature and the yield is low, while if dug too late, the rhizome will rot through maturity, resulting in a decline in quality. When digging, you should also choose a sunny day, dig out the whole plant, remove the soil, stems and leaves on the surface of the rhizome, and then bake it with a small hot Kang for 2-3 days. When giving off a strong fragrance, place it in the bamboo basket to shake and remove the excess soil and fibrous root, and the remaining main root can be processed into a commodity.

The above is the planting technology of Ligusticum chuanxiong. I hope it can help you. If you want to know more about the planting of medicinal materials, please follow us.
