What if the cymbidium in the orchid does not blossom?
There are three main reasons why Huilan does not blossom. This is the result of a good farmer's personal experiment. Today, let's talk about these three aspects.
During the Spring Festival in 2015, I found a wild Cymbidium on the mountain. The number of seedlings is more than 30, a very large clump. The orchid leaves are nearly 80 cm long, dark green in color and clothed. Such a strong plant of Cymbidium has no flower arrow. Even if the farmer introduced it back and all the cymbidium of the same period blossomed, it still showed no sign of blooming. This cymbidium has not blossomed until this year. So sometimes Huilan's failure to blossom may have something to do with the variety.
Then there is the temperature. In the winter of 2016 (at the end of December), a friend in Beijing wanted to take a pot of cymbidium from me. At that time, he found two pots for him to choose, both with newly unearthed flowers and arrows. He chose a pot and blossomed before February in the temperature in Beijing. However, the pot I left at home did not blossom until late March, a full month and a half behind. But his cymbidium did not blossom this year, which may be a management problem. If the cymbidium arrow does not get enough low temperature vernalization, it will be very difficult to blossom. Even if it blossoms, it is a bad flower with a very short scape.
The third is fertilizer. Cymbidium has large plants and many roots, so it naturally needs more fertilizer. If the cymbidium that has bloomed for two years does not turn the pot and change the soil, the plant material is not nutritious enough to maintain its budding. I suggest that Huilan should apply fertilizer twice a year, the first time is after flowering, supplemented by nitrogen fertilizer, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer; the second time is about White Dew, with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer as the main nitrogen fertilizer. During this period, combined with foliar fertilizer spraying, in order to ensure that Cymbidium has enough nutrients to blossom.
Finally, there is another point that is not the key point. Huilan needs a large amount of light. Except at noon in midsummer, it is better to bask in the sun most of the time, especially in late autumn and winter. Basking in the sun can make Cymbidium arrows stronger and easier to bloom.
