Is it better to plant deep or shallow when you change the pot in the autumn?
With the advent of autumn, many flower friends are prepared to change pots for magnolia when the temperature is right, so as to facilitate better growth and flowering.
The basin change of Magnolia is mostly carried out in spring and autumn, and it is easy to change basin in autumn when the temperature is about 25 degrees, about the end of September and the beginning of October. So when changing pots, should orchids grow deep or shallow? This problem is not clear, and the problem is bigger in the follow-up maintenance.
In general, the planting of orchids should be shallow rather than deep, that is, shallow planting is better.
. Why? The reasons are as follows:
1. More conducive to growth
Cymbidium is a fleshy root, which is shallowly buried in the soil about one centimeter away from the surface of the basin soil when planted, has good air permeability and high oxygen content in the soil around the root, which is more conducive to the respiration of the root system, which slows down the aging rate of the old root and accelerates the growth of the new root. as a result, developed roots can grow and absorb more nutrients and moisture to facilitate plant growth.
2. The root is not perishable
Because the root of Cymbidium is fleshy, it is easy to rot when the basin soil is too wet, which affects the growth of the plant. If the planting is too deep, the water content in the soil is too large after watering, and it is not easy to volatilize, resulting in the root of Cymbidium covered with wet mud for a long time, resulting in root rot. If the planting is relatively shallow, the water flows down after watering, and the water evaporation on the surface of the basin soil is large, which can make the root soil dry quickly and the root system can grow more healthily.
3. It is not easy to break the heart
If there is stagnant water in the leaf core of Cymbidium, it is easy to rot. Therefore, when maintaining the orchid, the leaf core should be cleaned in time, and the leaves should also be cleaned when splashed with water, so as to avoid leaving spots to affect the ornamental quality of the orchid.
When planting is too deep, watering is easy to pour water on the leaf core, causing the leaf core to rot. Or you do not pour water on the leaf core, because the leaf core is too close to the basin or has been buried under the basin, the water stain will seep into the leaf core. Shallow planting, watering slowly from the edge of the basin, the core of the leaves will not be drenched with water, it is not easy to rot.
These are the three advantages of the shallow planting of Cymbidium, but we should not plant it too shallowly, because the foundation is unstable and easy to shake, affecting the growth of the root system.
In addition, when planted too shallowly and brightly, the roots may burn, or the watering is not easy to grasp, causing the roots close to the basin soil to dry up due to lack of water. It is also possible to burn the roots when planting too shallow and fertilize, resulting in yellow leaves, rotten leaves or the death of the whole plant. In short, planting magnolia can be shallow.
