Last Updated: 2024/11/08, Leek maggot belongs to Diptera, Culicidae, which is the larva of Mushroom mosquito and the main underground pest of Chinese chive. In spring and autumn, the larvae gathered underground to feed on the young bulbs of leek, resulting in thin and yellow leaves, wilting roots, and finally withered. Therefore, for the prevention and control of leek maggots, we should master agricultural measures, biological control and chemistry.

The larvae gathered in the underground bulb and the base of the stem, and the newly hatched larvae first damaged the base of the leaf sheath and the upper end of the bulb. Spring and autumn mainly harm the young stem of leek, cause rot, make leek withered and yellow and die. In summer, the larvae decay down into the bulb, and in severe cases, the bulb decays, resulting in the death of pier seedlings.
