Last Updated: 2024/11/22, The dragon fruit is more drought-tolerant. It is watered every 2-3 days at the initial planting stage, and the soil can be kept moist after that. The root distribution of dragon fruit is shallow, and fertilization should be applied for a few times to prevent root burning and rotting. After the colonized seedling germinates, thin human feces and urine can be applied in the planting hole about 10 cm away from the seedling, about 1 kg per plant, and then germinate every time.

Pitaya is drought-tolerant, watering once every 2~3 days at the beginning of planting, and keeping the soil moist afterwards. Pitaya root system distribution is shallow, fertilization should be a small number of times to prevent burning roots, rotten roots. After the seedlings germinate, thin human feces can be applied to the planting holes about 10 cm away from the seedlings, about 1 kg per plant, and then human feces added with 0.3% urea and 0.1% potassium chloride can be applied once every time the seedlings germinate until the pitaya blossoms. Fertilization 6~8 times in the first year, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, combined with potassium, calcium, magnesium phosphate fertilizer, etc. Cover with decomposed organic fertilizer or mushroom residue once in winter, about 10kg per plant, enhance the cold resistance of plants. After flowering, fertilizer is applied 3 times a year, i.e. pre-flowering fertilizer in April, strong fruit fertilizer in August and overwintering fertilizer in December, mainly decomposed organic fertilizer and ternary compound fertilizer.
