Cold prevention methods of peony flowers in winter

Peony winter cold prevention is mainly aimed at cold areas, Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas in the south do not need to do anti-freezing, winter can be outdoor open field winter.

There are three main ways to prevent winter cold in northern peony flowers, which can be selected and used according to the local air temperature. No matter which anti-freezing method you choose, you should water it thoroughly before the beginning of winter.

1. Cultivate soil to guard against cold

Cultivating soil to protect against cold is more suitable for short plants. From the end of October to the beginning of November.

2. Film mulching to protect against cold

3. Strapping and bagging

In late October, the peony plant was tied up, then wrapped in a straw curtain, then covered with a plastic bag, the lower mouth of the bag should be compacted with soil, and then wrapped tightly and tied up on the outside with a straw curtain.

When the temperature is stable at 0-4 ℃, the cold shield can be removed gradually, part of the mulch and plastic film can be removed first, the cover of 2-3cm can be retained, and then all the mulch can be removed when the new branch grows to about 5-6cm.

Overwintering methods of potted peony
