Three steps of asparagus management in early spring

Last Updated: 2024/09/19, Due to the low price of asparagus in the past two years, most asparagus farmers have given up field management or intercropped with other crops in the asparagus field, seriously affecting the growth, development and yield of asparagus. In addition, asparagus was frozen to death prematurely in 2009, resulting in less accumulation of nutrients and a decrease in the number of scale buds differentiation and formation.

The first step is to clear the garden thoroughly. It is a good time for asparagus to clear the garden thoroughly. The dry stems of the previous year should be thoroughly removed, and the remaining branches and fallen leaves should be raked away and transported to the place far away from the bamboo shoot field to burn or bury them deeply. Because if the spores or hyphae left on the branches and leaves remain in the bamboo shoot field, they will multiply in large numbers during the later growth period, aggravating the occurrence of stem blight. After clearing the garden, the bamboo shoot fields must be sterilized on the ground, which most bamboo shoot farmers have failed to do, and must be paid attention to. When disinfecting, you can spray 16% bacteriostatic net 500x solution or 45% Shenanning 1000-fold solution or 50% Shuangjisheng 400x solution. Spray it evenly during disinfection to ensure the antivirus effect. The second step is reasonable topdressing. The demand for fertilizer for asparagus in spring generally accounts for about 30% of the total growth period. Fertilization is generally controlled by applying 50 kg of standard compound fertilizer and 100 kg of organic compound fertilizer per mu, and ditching at a distance of 30 cm from the bamboo shoot plant. The ditch depth is about 15 cm, not too deep, so as not to hurt the root. After topdressing, one should be watered in time to give full play to the fertilizer effect as soon as possible. The third step is to scientifically cover soil and green asparagus without ridging. Soil mulching should be combined with loose soil to preserve soil moisture, and properly cover the bamboo shoots with soil about 15 centimeters. This can not only increase the ground temperature, promote the early harvest of asparagus, increase the yield, but also reduce the occurrence of grass damage. Mastering the above three key measures in spring can lay a solid foundation for high yield in that year.
