A friend of mine especially likes raising Zhu Dinghong and collects many varieties. In addition to the common soil Zhu, he also buys many imported varieties with rich designs and different shapes, filling the whole windowsill and balcony. This time I asked him how to make the potted Zhu Dinghong blossom year after year.

Zhu Dinghong belongs to bulbous flowers. There are swollen tubers at the bottom of its rhizome and grow a long pedicel, so some people call it "pair of red". If you live in a warm climate all the year round and the temperature is above 5 degrees all year round, you can plant Zhu Dinghong in the yard.

Now most friends like potted plants to maintain Zhu Dinghong very much. Each tree needs a flowerpot with a diameter of about 16 centimeters and 20 centimeters. It is best to choose a flowerpot with a larger weight, because the weight of the flower stem is so heavy that it falls down as soon as the wind blows.

For beginners, I suggest using red pottery pots directly, because it has good air permeability and drainage. Of course, you can choose tile pots or ceramic pots, not cement pots or stone pots with poor drainage, let alone containers without drainage holes.

The cultivation of Zhu Dinghong also needs to prepare suitable soil, preferably loose, fertile and well-drained humus or sandy soil, avoid using heavy yellow soil or garden soil that is easy to consolidate, and can be mixed with common compost, peat soil and rotten leaf soil. add some river sand or perlite appropriately, and you can put some mature manure or slow-acting granular fertilizer at the bottom of the basin.

If you want Zhu Dinghong to blossom year after year, the bulbs must not be planted too deep. The bulbs of Zhu Dinghong must be planted in the potted soil, and the bulbs must be exposed to the surface of the soil, not too deep, otherwise there will be no way to blossom. This is extremely critical.

After the red seed is planted, it needs to be placed in a suitable position for maintenance, and more light is given every day. In addition to proper shade in summer, sufficient light can be given in other seasons, and a place with more scattered light every day can also grow well.

In the process of the growth of Zhu Dinghong, we should also pay attention to turning the basin regularly to avoid the crooked stems and leaves and make the leaves grow more evenly, which is also conducive to promoting the growth of flower stems. After Zhu Dinghong's flowers are pregnant, avoid direct sunlight, which can prolong the flowering period.

Zhu Dinghong usually blossoms in the winter and spring world, which also depends on the specific planting time. Zhu Dinghong usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to blossom, and this also depends on the specific cultivated varieties, which are usually cultivated in autumn and bloom in winter and spring.

If you want to promote Zhu Dinghong to blossom again in the second year, you need to give it extra care, because the first year consumes a lot of nutrients from the bulb, and if it is not given extra care, it may only grow stems and leaves in the second year and cannot breed flowers.

After the flower fades, cut it off when it is about to wither, trim it about 3 centimeters down from the top of the pedicel, then continue watering, give water to the pot when the soil is dry, and pay attention to replenishing liquid fertilizer regularly.

In this way, Zhu Dinghong can grow more leaves in spring and summer, generate enough energy for the next year to breed flowers, and begin to control the water after the end of August, and can wait for the pot soil to dry before it can be watered through, so that its leaves can wither and help the bulb to store nutrients, so that flowers can be better nurtured.

Of course, you can also dig up the red bulb during dormancy, cut off its withered stems and leaves, and store it in a dark, dry and cool place for more than 8 weeks, so that the bulb can store enough nutrients.

Wait until the autumn weather is cooler and then take out the bulb for cultivation. It will take 6 to 8 weeks to bloom again. During bulb maintenance, you should be given sufficient scattered light, water regularly, and do not water too much at first. You need to increase watering when you see that the stems and leaves grow more, and pay attention to a thin organic fertilizer and water about 2 weeks, so that you can keep Zhu Dinghong blooming every year.
