Last Updated: 2024/11/22, Red bayberry seedlings begin to bear fruit about 5 years after planting. In order to achieve the goal of preterm birth, strengthening cultivation management after planting can not be ignored. First of all, seedlings should be checked in time. Red bayberry seedlings begin to bear fruit about 5 years after planting. In order to achieve the goal of preterm birth, strengthening cultivation management after planting can not be ignored. First of all, seedlings should be checked in time. Red bayberry seedlings must be checked in time after planting, and if missing plants are found, they should be replanted immediately to make their growth neat and consistent; if they encounter dry weather after planting, they should be watered in time and soil should be cultivated properly. Secondly, after the seedlings are planted, it is necessary to do a good job of fixing the stem. Leave a height of 35cm to 40cm above the trunk interface in the center of the seedling, cut off the top tip, promote the lower part to shoot out, and then leave 3 strong shoots as the main branch. If the seedling has branches and the height from the ground is appropriate, it can be retained as the main branch, and those that are too low near the ground should be cut off. Third, to do a good job of ground cover, young trees must do a good job in drought resistance and seedling protection before the advent of high temperature and drought in mid-late June. If there is a lack of water, the ground cover can be done well after shallow ploughing around the seedlings. The covering material can generally be used locally, such as cutting young firewood and grass from the mountain and laying it on a disk about 1 meter in diameter around the trunk, which is 10 to 20 centimeters thick and pressed with mud or stones to prevent it from being blown away by the wind. Fourth, fertilizer should be applied reasonably. The newly planted young trees of red bayberry should be applied quick-acting fertilizer in time to meet the needs of tapping and growing leaves. It is better to apply fertilizer with thin human feces and urine, applying 1kg to 1.5kg per small tree, or 0.1 kg urea plus water, or before or after light rain. Topdressing should be applied three times a year at the time of shoot sprouting in spring, summer and autumn, so as to make young bayberry trees form a crown with fruiting ability as soon as possible. For all 1-year-old and 3-year-old young trees, quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer is the main topdressing, and potassium fertilizer is applied again in the fourth year, generally applying 2kg of plant ash or charred mud ash, or 0.2 kg of potassium sulfate, in order to enhance the tree potential and lay the foundation for bearing fruit.
