First, the difference between trees

The long-leaf sunflower tree can be up to 15 meters high and its trunk is stout and cylindrical.

Soft leaf thorn sunflower stem tufted, about 1 to 3 meters high, stem diameter about 10 cm, with persistent triangular petiole base.

Second, leaf difference

Long-leaf sunflower petiole is short, the base is thick, yellowish brown, pinnately compound leaves 5 to 6 meters long, arched.

Soft-leaf sunflower leaves 1 to 1.5 meters long, showing pinnae linear, pinnae are soft, 20 to 30 centimeters long, dark green on both sides, arranged in two rows.

Third, the difference between flowers

The long-leaf sunflower shows a spike, the flowers are small and yellowish brown, the petals are 3, the female flowers are spherical and the calyx is cup-shaped.

Soft-leaf sunflower has inflorescences, up to 20 cm long, flowers with 3 petals, needle-shaped, about 9 mm long, tip acuminate.
