Tu Yuan likes to live in dark, moist, humus loose soil. In the wild, Tu Yuan lives in the humus soil and gravel between stoves, corners and deciduous forests, with a depth of up to 0.50.6 meters. Male Tuyuan died 20 days after mating. A male Tuyuan could mate with more than a dozen females. Female Tuyuan began to lay eggs 7 days after mating, laying one egg every 7 days without second mating. A female Tuyuan could lay dozens of eggs. Under the appropriate temperature and humidity, the eggs hatched in 43 days, and the larvae were oval in shape without distinction between male and female.
