Sweet potato is very common in our daily life, and it is widely planted in rural areas of our country, but sometimes some farmers will find that the annual yield on the same piece of land is very different. When planting, people feel that they are managed very carefully, and there are no diseases and insect pests. In fact, sometimes it is because some conditions are not in place when planting, so what conditions do you need when planting sweet potatoes? What should we pay attention to? Let's take a look at it.

1. Temperature

Sweet potato is a kind of warm food crop, which is not very suitable for low temperature weather. It is very sensitive to temperature changes. The temperature of sweet potato germination is at least above ten degrees. If it is lower than ten degrees, it will not germinate. And when the temperature is 10-15 degrees, it takes about a week to sprout, so that the temperature for the normal growth and development of the roots is about 18 degrees. Some experiments show that when the surface temperature is 20 degrees, it only takes 3 days for sweet potato roots to sprout. The most suitable temperature for sweet potato germination and growth is about 30 degrees. But the temperature should not exceed 35 degrees, otherwise the growth rate of sweet potatoes will be very slow and stop growing when it is below 15 degrees.

2. Lighting

Sweet potato also likes light very much, and the demand for light is very large. When the light is sufficient and the light intensity is high, the leaves of sweet potato grow very well. The stem vine will also grow very strong, of course, it will further improve the yield and quality of sweet potato. However, if the growth of sweet potato does not meet the light time needed for the growth of sweet potato, it will cause the withered and yellow leaves of sweet potato and the phenomenon of falling leaves. The growth of stem vines will also be greatly hindered, so that the nutrient absorption and transport of sweet potatoes are reduced, resulting in a significant reduction in yield.

3. Moisture

The water demand of sweet potato is not very large, and the suitable growth environment of sweet potato is generally under the condition of relatively dry and warm. During the growth and development of sweet potato, if the variable of water is too different, it will have a certain impact on the yield of sweet potato, which will not only be not conducive to the yield of sweet potato, but also increase the incidence of sweet potato diseases and insect pests. However, it should be noted that in the growth stage of sweet potato seedlings, the demand for water is still relatively large. However, it is necessary to reduce moisture when flowering, because too much water will affect the flowering time and flowering rate of flowers. Therefore, it is necessary to control the amount of water in the planting process.

4. Fertilizer

Sweet potato needs a lot of nutrition in the growth process, and the demand for fertilizer is very high, so the supply of fertilizer must be controlled during the planting period. The base fertilizer needs to be fully applied before planting. The fertilizer that sweet potato needs most is potash fertilizer, then nitrogen fertilizer, and finally phosphate fertilizer. When fertilizing, the nutrition must be balanced, and a certain kind of fertilizer should not be applied to cause problems in the growth of sweet potatoes. And the amount of fertilizer and other fertilizers should be determined according to a series of factors such as the growth of sweet potato and the degree of soil fertility. Do not apply fertilizer blindly, blind fertilization not only can not promote the growth of sweet potato, but may also inhibit its development and reduce the yield.

The above four points are the things we need to pay attention to when planting sweet potatoes. We must have a correct management method when planting. Because only in this way can we control the output of sweet potatoes, which is more beneficial to our economic interests. And when we choose the planting soil, we try to choose the soil whose PH value is about 6, which is more conducive to the growth and development of sweet potato and increase the yield.
