American frog, also known as river frog and water frog, originated in the United States. It was introduced to China in the late 1980s. It is a first-class edible frog with delicate meat and delicious taste. Now it has been popularized and cultivated all over the country. The main breeding methods are soil pond culture, cement pond intensive frog culture, cage frog culture and paddy field frog culture. Let's take a look at the breeding techniques of American frogs.

Construction of frog culture pond

1. Frog pond requirements: choose a place with fresh water quality, abundant water sources, no pollution, easy drainage and easy irrigation, good lighting conditions, shelter from the wind and sun, convenient transportation and quiet environment. Ridge farming can be adopted (that is, half are ditches and half are ridges). General area 50-60 square meters, set ridge width 2-3 meters, ditch width 2 meters, ditch depth 30 cm. Press a ridge and a ditch to separate the unitary culture pond with a net, which is firmly fixed with wooden piles or bamboo poles. The net is 1.5-2 meters high. Each unit frog pond opens a movable door, which is convenient for people to enter and manage.

2. Sunscreen measures

① planted melons and beans around the pond to draw the plants onto the scaffolding to protect them from the scorching sun.

② uses a shade net to protect against the sun.

③ is shaded with grass. Frog ponds should be disinfected with soil lime and strong chlorine, while ryegrass and water peanuts should be planted on dry ridges to create a cool and quiet habitat for frogs.

Feed allocation and feeding method

Pellet expanded feed is the first choice for feeding American frogs, and then all captured or artificially bred earthworms, aseptic fly maggots, yellow powder worms, small fish and shrimp can be fed, or the filling method can be used to feed common feeds such as corn and wheat bran.

1, preparation and feeding: the preparation of American frog full price with pellet expanded feed (hereinafter referred to as expanded feed), can use common feed materials such as fish meal, peanut bran and so on. In addition, a certain amount of food attractants, binders, and nutritional additives (such as multi-vitamins, trace mineral elements, amino acids, etc.) should be added. This is because the vision of American frogs is not developed, and they can only see small animals that are flying or wriggling. And turn a blind eye to small animals that are still or dead. At the same time, American frogs are carnivorous animals and do not like to eat plant-based fodders. in order to make carnivorous frogs eat static feed based on plant-based materials, food attractants that stimulate the vision, smell and taste of frogs can be added. such as edible red pigment, nucleotides, trimethylaminolide, garlic powder, citric acid, khanate and so on. At the same time, in order to keep the feed floating on the surface for more than 2 hours, sodium alginate, a binder, can be added to the feed.

① formula: fish meal 16%, peanut bran 16%, wheat bran 18%, corn 25%, secondary flour 20%, bone meal 0.5%, additives (including food attractants, binders, nutritional additives) 4.5%.

② processing: first crush the raw materials with twice crushing method, that is, first crush the raw materials with a grinder, pass through a 30-mesh sieve, and then replace the sieve of the grinder with 50 mesh, and then crush the raw materials that have been crushed once. The formula is called raw materials, and some of the raw materials that have been crushed once are used as carriers. After pre-mixing nutritional additives, food attractants and binders, pour them together with other crushed materials and mix them for 15 minutes until uniform. In the mixing process, appropriate moisture can be added to the raw material so that the water content of the raw material can reach 22%-25%. It is appropriate to hold the raw material into a ball by hand, extend the palm of the hand and spread the raw material. After mixing, it can be put into the extruder for puffing, and the raw material becomes expanded feed, which is granulated by the cutter near the outlet hole. To be a finished product for feeding frogs.

③ feed the frog: put the puffed feed in the dry place of the frog pond. After the frog smells the unique smell of the feed, it crawls to look for food.

2. Artificial filling and feeding: mix the crushed corn, wheat and peanut bran together, add water while mixing, and rub the feed into a broad bean-sized pellet. When filling and feeding, first grasp the frog with the left hand, hold the hind legs of the frog with the ring finger and little finger, put the palm on the back of the frog, place the middle finger on the frog's chest, gently press the thumb and index finger through the frog's axil, and grasp the forelimb. Open the frog's mouth with the right little finger, hold the mouth with the left thumb and index finger, and put the feed into the mouth with the right hand. Pull out the left thumb and index finger to close the frog's mouth, then gently press the frog's throat with the right finger, press the feed into the back pharynx of the frog, and the frog swallows the feed. After many times of filling and feeding, the frog will cooperate actively.

3. The bait of earthworm, yellow powder worm, aseptic fly maggot and Oncomelania hupensis can be bred from soil, wheat bran, feces and grass respectively. when the above four kinds of bait grow up, they can be caught and placed in the trough of the frog pond to let the frogs find food on their own.

Domestication and feeding methods of American frogs

1. Using live bait to drive dead bait: using the movement of live bait to drive dead bait to activate dead bait. Two feeding methods can be used in this domestication method. First, the live bait is mixed with the dead bait and put on the bait plate, and the food plate is placed on the land in the pool. The process was as follows: at the beginning of 7 days, the dead bait of 1 hand 3 and live bait of 2 hand 3 were mixed and fed. From the 8th day to the 14th day, live bait and dead bait were mixed and fed. In the last 10 days, 2 beat 3 dead bait and 1 pound 3 live bait were mixed and fed. Second, the live bait and the floating dead bait are mixed and put in the feed frame in the water. This method usually takes about 10 days to complete the domestication process.

2. Dripping method: install a bucket above the bait frame, open the water valve installed on the bucket, make the water drop evenly into the bait frame, activate the floating dead bait, and make the frog mistakenly think it is live bait.

2. The method of direct domestication: that is, the method of directly feeding frogs with floating dry bait without using any lure. When using this method, the stocking density of the frog should be increased, and after the frog is hungry for 1-2 days, the palatable dry bait will be thrown on the water surface, and the fluctuation of the water will be driven by the frog's activity, so that the floating bait activity will allow the frog to swallow.

Breeding methods of American frogs

1. Frog eggs are hatched in cages and made of nylon cloth into boat-shaped cages with a length of 2 meters and a width of 1 meters. The cages are placed in a commercial frog pond with 30-40 cm of water and fixed with bamboo poles. The top of the box is covered with bamboo or grass curtains to protect against the sun and rain. The floating aquatic plants are put in the box, and the eggs picked up are put into the bushes of human aquatic plants for hatching. About 6000 eggs can be laid per square meter, and 1-2 nests of eggs on the same day can be placed in each box. Tadpoles can be hatched in 2-3 days at the appropriate temperature, and the hatching rate is as high as 80%. 90%.

2. Tadpole cultivation: newly hatched tadpoles can be kept in the hatching cage or moved into the tadpole breeding cage (the cage practice should be the same as the incubator). The depth of human water in the cage is required to be more than 50 cm in order to facilitate the movement of tadpoles. Each cage is equipped with 1-2 feeding pots, which should be submerged 10 cm underwater to facilitate tadpoles to feed. Tadpoles just hatched 4-5 days on oocyst nutrition life, do not need to feed, then feed cooked egg yolk. Sprinkle 3 egg yolks with syrup water into the cage for every ten thousand tails and allow them to eat twice a day. 10-day-old tadpoles can be fed with raw soybean milk, soybean dregs, pig blood and other foods, but also can be combined with artificial compound feed. With the growth of tadpoles, it should be divided into boxes gradually to reduce the density of Baotou. Tadpoles can be raised in commercial frog ponds after growing up to 1-2 months. 15000 tadpoles can be released on every 700m2 water surface until commercial frogs are cultivated.
